wellbutrin initial days...nausea?

Recommended Posts

So I am about a week and a half in to starting wellubtrinXL. I have been on it before with no problems. But I have been having some low grade nausea the past few days. I have thought through some other possibilities, but i am not really having any other physical health symptoms, so it seems drug related. Its not awful...but annoying and I am concerned it will get worse.

does this sound like a typical starting problem? Anyone have suggestions for dealing with it if so?

I had it for the first two or three days. Just make sure you keep a lot of fluids in your system and try to eat simpler food (pb&j, applesauce, soup etc). Ginger ale or ginger tea help too. I favor the former more because the bubbles = burps and usually that'll help nausea for a few seconds or minutes. Good luck! I hope it all works out.

I had nausea too but it went away. For me wellbutrin has killed my appetite (especially my sweet tooth) which is one of the reasons I begged my pdoc for it. So this is a good thing! BUT I was worried at first cuz it made me nauseous and I though Oh No.... "is this why it kills your appitite?" But the nausea stopped. So just give it a little more time. I also had major dry mouth but that eased up too. At first food didn't taste good at all.. this also eased. :-) I love my wellbutrin so much!

Thank you both for the suggestions. And yes, crab, you have my thoughts precisely...part of the reason it was chosen is because of the appetite suppression factor and when I started feeling the nausea I was worried that was why. Hopefully it'll go away for me as well since it did for you both.

most anti-depressants cause gastro problems at first. It's a good sign. I would treat it as a stomach virus and keep down a high intake of fluids (coke and lemonade usually make the nausea go away).
