AlwaysAlone
Hi my name is Crystal, in Jan of 2010 I was told that I am Bipolar 1, and that I have severe depression and anxiety. I was just told by a new doc that he is sure that I have PTSD, but not sure about the Bipolar. I have had so many tramatic things happen in my life that I could believe I am PTSD, but what does that really mean. He also said that I have dissociation, what does that mean? I get too scared to ask. I was searching, and found this place, hope someone can give me a little info.
jt07
Hi, Crystal, and welcome to crazyboards! Take a look around because I believe we have topics such as PTSD and dissociation disorders. Once again, welcome aboard!
AnneMarie
Hi. Welcome to CB. I think you will find the info you are seeking in the PTSD Board. Super briefly, dissociation is stepping away from reality. It is when reality seems unreal. This is not by choice or drugs. It just happens. PTSD is more complicated so I'll let you read the info on the Board. Make yourself at home. Folks are usually quite nice. We have chat and blogs in addition to the boards. Take a look when you have a minute. They are a good way to meet some members. Also, if you have any questions, feel free to contact staff or an admin. Again, welcome! Guest Vapourware
Hai and welcome to the boards. PTSD can be pretty complicated because it's a combination of physiological and psychological factors. There's a lot of good information on the PTSD forums which might be a good starting point for you.

tryp
Welcome - I'm glad you found us and I hope you will stick around. If you are confused about your diagnosis and what it means for you, that's a really good thing to discuss with your doctor, as well as reading here and elsewhere on the internet. He will be able to tell you exactly what he's seeing that makes him believe that you have PTSD.
AlwaysAlone
Thanks for the words of encourgment and advice. I don't question why my Dr said I have PTSD, I had a death in my family every 3-4 mths for about 3 yrs, and it took it's toll. Then I had a terrible accident where I actually died (but didn't stay that way as you can tell). So I understand that, I just don't understand everything that that means. I go see this new Dr again in about a week, so I'm going to talk to him more about it. But in the mean time I'm gonna check out the other forums, and hopefully make some friends you can understand what I am going through. Thanks again for the welcome's
WinterRosie
Hi! We dissociate. You aren't alone. It can happen a few different ways. Even mentally healthy people dissociate sometimes, so it's a common thing. Looking forward to seeing you around
