jamesmb113
Hello. I found you guys by googling "are there any trucking school grants for crazy people?" Well, ok, it was more like "any f******* school grants for crazy people" The diagnoses are in the signature now. Previous version of the post = tl;dr. Things I intend to discuss with the next doc: Dissociation (primaily depersonalization); double depression. Other than my personal manifestations of "Teh big crazy": *I play violin and viola *Have a Bachelor's in music *With unlimited funds, would get a Masters in Musicology. After I attended trucking school. And a local school that offers a program bearing computer certifications at the end. (A+, the MSCE junk, CCNA.). *Oh, and accounting. Can't forget accounting. Just to prove I can, even with a Non-verbal processing disorder that hits me especially hard in the math department. *None of this with a specific career goal. Just for sheer bloody-mindedness and the hell of it. *I hate this question: "But what's your PASSION?" I don't have any. Before the dysthymia diagnosis, I thought that was entirely normal. Now I feel stressed out to find something I'm passionate about. Protecting my kids. But that's about it.

The people are nice and generally supportive. Look around, and feel free to ask questions.
jamesmb113
Thank you. The above mentioned "cadillac bi-polar med" would be--Abilify.
BustOfPallas
Thank you. The above mentioned "cadillac bi-polar med" would be--Abilify. "unmedicatable" I really like that. Sounds like a good movie title.
tryp
Welcome. Zoloft was a hell trip for me as well - hate the stuff. If you haven't already, take a look at our rules and feel free to PM a mod or admin if you need any help.
Guest Vapourware
Welcome, sounds like you've had a bit of a ride. Your last pdoc sounded like a bit of a crock. There's plenty of med options out there for you. Also, I'm not sure if Abilify is a 'cadillac bipolar med'.
jamesmb113
Welcome, sounds like you've had a bit of a ride. Your last pdoc sounded like a bit of a crock. There's plenty of med options out there for you. Also, I'm not sure if Abilify is a 'cadillac bipolar med'. The SSRI's have been tried and found dangerous. The county mental health dude isn't about to risk his job, so he goes with Depakote. The "Jesus shrink" probably looked at all this, saw "Panic Disorder" in the Axis I column, momentarily considered Tofranil, but took the route of least potential liability instead. I remember simply informing him of a cell phone number change. I mentioned I was sick of people making faces, and making lame jokes because my number ended in -666. He proceeded as if I had some sort of obsession or phobia concerning that number. It took about 20 minutes of session time to get him turned around. "Dude, look, I'm just sick of people laughing and humming Iron Maiden tunes, ok?" It's entirely possibly I'm confusing Abilify with a newer (and hence non-generic) med. In any case, that's what I mean by "cadillac": a med with positive press amongst doctors, that is emphatically NOT in the state health insurance formulary. It gives me a lot more compassion for my spouse and her parents. Going to split this tl;dr post later, and post the some sections in the appropriate forums.
