Damik
So now I'm losing my hair. Hooray! I'm going to be fat, pimply and bald. Good thing I've already scored a mate.
jt07
Any idea what's causing it? If it's a med, has one been added recently that could cause it? For sure you will not lose all your hair so don't panic.
tryp
What kind of hair loss are we talking about here? Like, bald patches losing hair? Hanks? Or just more than usual? Because I've often thought I was losing hair on medication, but sometimes it was just my hair going through some sort of shedding cycle - apparently you shed different amounts at different times. And sometimes I would lose more hair than usual while starting on a med, but it never made my hair noticeably thinner, and it stopped after a while. When it happened to me, I was brushing my hair and a bunch would come out, then I would run my hands through my hair and even MORE would come out. And I was losing hanks in the shower. I thought I was going to go bald but actually I didn't and it wound up not really being a huge deal. If you really are losing a huge amount of hair, I'd think about seeing the gdoc. It's easy to blame everything on the psych meds, but sometimes it's actually something else.
Damik
From what I've read Trileptal and Klonapin can both cause hair thinning, not baldness (thankfully). I just had my thyroid checked Thursday, but I haven't heard back on the results yet. I'm losing handfuls of hair each time I run a brush or hand through it. Same with showering. I don't have bald spots or anything, but it just started. It coincided with my switch to Klonapin last week which is why I wonder if that is the cause. tryp
I was losing handfuls when I started Remeron and it eventually stopped. But YMMV
