tryp
If you're taking it at night and having trouble sleeping, it's worth moving it to the morning. It's not unheard of for people to go either way - it's a pretty common med thing. If it makes you sleepy, take it at night, and if it keeps you up, try the morning. When I took my Celexa, I took it in the morning. I took benzos when I was on Celexa and I never had a problem. If you need them, use them.
jt07
Yes, I agree with the others. Try taking it in the morning. If this is your first SSRI, I can say that they sometimes have the effect of causing awakening in the night until your body adjusts to them. Celexa is a good drug though. Anna
Yes, it should be safe to skip tonight's PM dose and take in AM, but if anxiety is bothering you about this, check with pdoc. Probably worth doing if you can. Anna
member
When I took Celexa I went into hypomania, I couldn't sleep and I was incredibly impulsive. That was the second time I was diagnosed with bipolar II.
causmose
I've started taking Celexa recently and have noticed the same kind of insomnia. Ever since I've started taking my dose in the morning or around noon, it's been a lot better. I'd recommend finding a fixed and consistent time you can take it, though, such as in the morning when you get up, perhaps with a multivitamin if you take those. I've only started taking it in the morning for just under a week now, so I can't say too much on how well this morning thing is working, but I believe it has helped. My doc said it might increase my mania, so this might be what you're experiencing. The Celexa may be heightening your ups, making you uppity at night, unable to sleep. Gearhead
Celexa made me so manic my tdoc suggested I should be put in the zoo, so watch that insomnia. If you get racing thoughts or any other symptoms of hypomania run, do not walk, to you doctor's office.
Penguin
I've had bouts of insomnia which I attribute to the celexa. Psych told me to take it in the AM. Never got to try it long though because I am used to taking all meds before bed and I forget morning meds. So I still take it at night with a klonopin to help me slsleep, which klonopin is in the benzo class like ativan.
