At what dosage is Abilify sedating?

Ability was sedating for me, and I took it at night - my initial dose was 15mg. However, it's also known as a pretty activating drug, so it really depends on how your body reacts. IMO, you might want to try taking it during the day first - pick a day where you don't have any obligations, like a weekend - and see how you react. If you do find it sedating, then you can start taking it at night.

I personally found abilify to be fairly stimulating. I was on 60mg from memory, which is a pretty high dose.

Seriously though, i doubt any dose of abilify will make you sedated, but a low dose like 15mg will if any....

15mg low? I would call it "medium", as the recommended max is 30mg. If it was 2mg or 5mg, then yes, that probably could be classified as low.

Although I guess any usual Abilify dose would be low compared to 60mg, that's about the highest I've heard someone being on it.

I take 15 mg. of Abilify twice a day (once is at bedtime). It doesn't seem to make me drowsy, but I also take 30 mg. of tamazepam each night. Strangely enough, I still go through periods of sever insomnia, but not too often.

I don't feel sedated on it, nor do I find it activating. I used to be on 25mg but dropped down to 20mg due to shaking/trembling. It's been the same, lack of sedation-wise, at both dosages for me.

The general standard seems to be that at lower doses like below 5 m.g., abilify is pretty activating. If it is GOING to sedate you it will be at doses of about 20 m.g. or above. This per my genius pdoc who put me on 30 m.g. after I did highly badly on 2..... nope, it was still activating to the point of psychosis.

That said, everyone reacts differently to abilify. It is one funny drug. It's really like random in a bottle. Make sure you have a crisis plan and a rescue med, and give it yr best shot, would be my advice.

I wish I had had that.

I have been on abilify for just under 2 weeks now. Does anyone else have "restless" legs? I put it in quotations because I don't think that it is the typical syndrome. If feels like someone is squeezing my legs. I can't stand in one spot for too long, and it feels like my feet constantly need to be elevated. I am considering going off the med because it is pretty intolerable. Thanks for your help.

It sounds like you've got something like akathisia going on, which is fairly common with abilify, judging by CB members. Let your pdoc know what's happening. If abilify's been working well for you otherwise, it might make sense to play with the dosage, or think about another med to manage the side effects stuff.
