jafco
Good Afternoon All I've been taking EFXR for many months at 300 mg. No problemo. Very neutral (maybe a little stimulation) although I am generally running at possum speed. I'd take all my meds in the AM (including 10 mg Valium) usually very shaky in the AM, the others are unimportant in this instance. The Seroquel which I use for sleep (100 mg) is of course taken in the PM. We added 150 mg Wellbutrin SR about 2 weeks ago because I felt I needed a little "kick". I got it for the first couple days. At the same time doc says lets jump the EFXR to 450 mg over that same two weeks. He also wanted to increase to 300 mg WB. I declined as I'd taken WB before and it had me hanging from the ceiling. Now I'm so damn tired after taking my AM meds I want to go back to bed. I even stopped taking the Valium in the AM. My anxiety has (knock on wood) subsided to almost none. Praise the Lord! I know what your going to tell me' take all or part of the EFXR at night. I will definately give that a try. Take the extra 150 in the PM. In general I'd jut like to know if people are finding EFXR stimulating or sedating, and at what dose. If you've just started then you don't have to answer. I want the veterans. grousemouse
i'm really happy for you that your anxiety has waned. i'm on 225 mg and have been for almost two years now i guess. it doesn't sedate me at all i don't think. it certainly makes it harder for me to fall asleep at night though so i'm taking 50 mg seroquel in the mid-evening to take care of that and also help with depression/anxiety as an adjunct to the effexor. i put myself up to 300 mg a while back but took myself back down to 225 mg after a couple of weeks because it kind of zombified me bigtime. never been on wellbutrin. grouse. jafco
I was fine at 300. It's definately the extra 150 mg that's making me drousy. I'm not sure what you mean by zombified, but I've got a pretty good idea. I'm trying to get more NA and Dopa by moving up. 450 is the official maximum Wyeth agrees with. I took the WB because I had taken it a year ago and it sped me up like the roadrunner! Yeah, thanks, the anxiety is definately waning. Maybe 300 WB SR will help with the fatigue problems. TruthSeeker
I was on EFXR 150mg/day for 3 months, and it made me feel like a zombie constantly. I was sleeping ALL the time, and couldn't stay awake for more than 10 hours at a time. My neurologist said that this was a rare reaction, and he'd only seen one other patient who'd reacted with drowsiness rather than insomnia. I've actually just started tapering a few days ago, because in addition to the awful side effects it was causing, it wasn't working. This sucks so far, but I was prepared for it. (My doc, on the other hand, didn't bother to mention anything about withdrawal when he prescribed it) I'm about to go post on some of the withdrawal threads, so I won't mention anything here. sarahnoid
I'm on my third or fourth month. It sedates the hell out of me. The first pill I took, I took in the morning. My doctor told me to use the weekend to fuss around with times to see when would be the best time for me to take it. Within two hours of taking it, I was one with the couch--I had NO energy. It's been a night pill since then and I do better with it at night.
