ScatterBrain_UK
I've been given a script for Zyban 150mg, once a day for 2 weeks, then twice a day for the next two months. At the moment I'm still taking Concerta XL but am hoping to cut down or leave it out altogether (partly because the ups & downs are ick, partly because I'd rather just have 1 med at the time). Day 1: So far I've felt very calm all day, and now the Concerta has worn off there's still a spark of alertness there which is nice. Weird thing is, rather than the expected dry mouth, my saliva seems to be thinner somehow, just a bit. Which is very welcome, because the Concerta had sometimes caused dry mouth, and had aggrevated my sinuses and allergies a fair bit, but it's almost as if they drained today and for the first time in ages I seem able to breathe properly and easily with no stuffy nose Had a slightly odd taste in my mouth for a bit during the day but that seems to have passed. Appetite is down a bit but not in the constricted, "blergh I don't fancy anything" way that ADD meds did for a few days (afterwards, I used to actually get hungrier from the Concerta!). Greenyflower
Hi, Scatterbrain, Good luck with the Wellbutrin (Zyban). I've been on it since January with very good results and very few side effects. Unless you have a problem with anxiety, Wellbutrin seems to have a relatively side effect profile. Keep coming back and let us know how you're doing. Greeny
ScatterBrain_UK
Unless you have a problem with anxiety, Wellbutrin seems to have a relatively side effect profile. Still doing well, I am one of those strange people for whom stimulants and as it turns out Wellbutrin have a very calming effect, not had a panic attack since I started on this (usually get them when the ADD meds wear out, and on med-free days I usually have a constant feeling of anxiety) Few side effects, slightly lowered appetite but that is fairly welcome (about 15kg overweight), generally seem to crave healthy stuff, fruit, veg, nuts, far less carbohydrates than usual. And I managed to reduce my caffeine intake and haven't craved any alcohol (not that I drink loads usually) since starting on this.
ScatterBrain_UK
Update: First 3 days I was reeeeally calm and chilled out. Still doing quite well but about 4 days into it, I started getting an added layer of effect that was kind of "tingly" and like a slight layer of irritability. Nothing major and I think I'm getting level again. Perhaps that is the Norephinephrine kicking in & I am more of a Dopamine girl? My pupils are also enlarged as of yesterday which I've read as a sign of Norepinephrine increase (see Strattera) so I am guessing my hunch is right. Hope they go away as I don't want to look like some junky & I get headaches sometimes from the light (that might be from the lack of caffeine though, as I've hardly had any cravings for it this past week and usually drink around 2 litres of Pepsi Max/day to calm myself down). ScatterBrain_UK
Yay, my pupils are back to normal again Didn't sleep too well over the weekend but then I never do around the time of ovulation, not sure why. At least I was fairly relaxed, as long as I don't panick about not getting to sleep I tend to drift off now and again before finally getting to sleep in the earlyt hours Next weekend I will be going up to 150mg BID, so far so good. I am much more relaxed, not as tense and work has been going fairly well. I seem better able to talk for some reason (moving my mouth, speaking coherently)
Velvet Elvis
Don't worry too much about sleeping less on Wellbutrin. It's often the case that you can get by on less sleep when you are on it, particularly if hypersomnia is a symptom of your depression.

I have never heard of another Brit taking Wellbutrin. Who prescribed it? A GP or psyc?

Bianca
The reason I was asking is b/c I was going to try to get my pdoc to put me on WB again. I took XL before but never SR. I thought SR was more of an immedite drug that doesn't last all day. Hence why I thought most individuals took it a few times a day.

Bianca
That would be interesting to see how your dosing works out. Thanks for the info about the SR version. Crossing my fingers that pdoc will grant me the rx for WB today

Bianca
Yes I am. I have the XL which is extended release. I only take 1 pill a day!
Bianca
I've heard that the SR should not be taken any later 4pm. And I think you only have to take them 8 hours apart. On a side note, I've been on WB XL for 5 days now. I felt a little kick at day 1 and 2 and now I just feel normal. Will this change in time or will I just always be like I already was? ScatterBrain_UK
I've heard that the SR should not be taken any later 4pm. I haven't heard that - plus I tend to sleep better now that I take it twice a day, so I don't see the point. (If it stopped me from sleeping then yes I would) I will obviously experiment with the second dose and see what time suits me best On a side note, I've been on WB XL for 5 days now. Bianca
SB, My pdoc and I discussed the SR version. I think she has seen in alot of her pateient's that taking it later than that can mess with sleep. But we also know that AD are different for everyone You mean like family that has been around me? On a side note I guess I don't think its not working I guess I've had the same effect as you and its calming vs. speeding me up. I kinda like the speedy feeling. I wonder if after a couple weeks when I have enough in my system that will come back.

Bianca
Hmm I'll have to ask. I know they noticed a difference with Cymbalt. I think I need to be on WB for a longer time before it really starts to work though, only been on it for 6 days now. Thanks for the help.
ScatterBrain_UK
Quick update, been on the 300mg for almost 1 1/2 weeks now, the effects on focus and mood are getting there slowly but surely. Very tired at the moment though, but I am not sure if this is really the WB or if it is due to sleeping worse at the moment due to extremely windy weather (and not being able to use ear plugs as I get ear infections from them).
