lachesis Posted October 2, 2011 Share Posted October 2, 2011 Okay, I really have been feeling better. Everyone and everything is less bothersome, but I've been stood-up. I'm not a baby sitter to my friend. I left it that I was busy today so we will speak via phone, but if not then I'd see her at the show for 8. No phone calls and she does not show. She lives around the corner. "Why did you not call" is on my voice mail tonight. I was outside in the cold for half an hour wondering what the f...? Now I'm out the money cause she will back out on that. Maybe that's the point of her not coming. Paycheck day and her money spent on booze or she was too drunk? Would you have showed up and waited outside if you were not sure when to meet up, or were not sure what happened? Miscommunication happens, but does that mean give-up. However what is clear is that you report she has children young enough to need a babysitter yet she spends her paychecks on booze, and gets drunk. I think you need a higher standard for your friends. You can't predict another person's behaviour, or whether they'll turn up, etc. My solution might not be the most ideal - I tend to take the pessimistic and cynical side and assume people aren't going to show up or do what they said they would do. I've been stood up too many times to be burnt by thinking that people are going to follow through on their word. If I expect them not to turn up, then if they don't turn up - I won't be disappointed. It ends up I travel alone mostly. I have thin skin tho, so it hurts. She claims she thought I was too busy, sick, tired to go and that's why I did not call like I was to?!? Then she blames her vision that she could not just "come around the corner" to see. She said I should have called to say I was waiting for her. Where else would I be if not at home?
