Anyone take 2mg a day? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My pdoc prescribes .5mg 4x/day prn. That totals 2mg/day. It's actually not a huge dose, IMO, I'd call it an average dose..... I do not get the extended release version, though. How is your rx written?

lei
my experience with xanax XR 2mg (not "too much" by the informal consensus i've gathered, but it's a very individual thing) is that the first day it worked for around 17 hours (which left me with an anxious night) and decreased within a week to about 12 hours, and in any case it's efficacy dropped off really fast. some people find it works to take twice a day, but for me, like the regular release kind, it just poops out too soon and suddenly to give good continuous coverage. i think regular xanax is great for panic attacks and special situations and stuff. for daily use again i found it wore off too quickly; it was like a roller coaster. YMMV but for everyday i would consider a different benzo. some like klonopin which was okay for me but valium has been way smoother for continuous coverage so i can function (while i do therapy and self-help too.) good luck in finding something that works. aloha. chimpmaster
Its essentially like taking around 30mg/valium per day. Its not that high a dose. Id call it moderate.
