I've only just noticed, when having "sexual relations" with my boyfriend that it's very hard for me to have an orgasm. I didn't think much of it until I did some research on my medications and I found out sexual dysfunction can be a side effect of them.

I think this is the case, think so anyway, but i'm unsure?

Could it be the medication? Or is it just not hitting the right "spot"?

Prozac along with all SSRI's is notorious for causing this problem. This is well-known.

I don't know about the rest of your drugs though. I never had a problem with Abilify, but I was on such a low effective dose. I also never had a problem with risperidone either, and I was on 4 mg which is a moderate dose. I don't know about Seroquel.

It is very likely that it is the meds, and of the meds, I think Prozac is the culprit.

EDIT: For grammar

This is the right board.

SSRIs are known to cause sexual dysfunction. Antipsychotics are, too, Abilify maybe less, but that depends on your body chemistry. So, yes, it is a reasonable guess that a med is the source. Which one is hard to say. Sorry. If you are stable, you'll have to decide how much trying for a better sexual situation is worth potentially destablizing your MI.

Btw, Wellbutrin is an AD that is unlikely to cause sexual dysfunction. In fact, sometimes it is added to an SSRI to help. Whether or not that is an option for you would be up to your pdoc.

I recently went down on my SSRI in order to get back some libido and be able to orgasm. Big mistake. I have destabalized and have had to go up again on my Lexapro. But, yes, SSRI's are know for causing sexual issues.

I had the same problem when I was on prozac. I found that it went away as soon as the prozac was out of my system.

Also, I'm pretty sure that it's listed in the leaflet as one of the side effects.

I'm going to talk to my pdoc about changing from prozac to another antidepressant, seeming it hasn't really worked so far and i've been on it for quite a while. I might suggest Wellbutrin.

Good luck with your new antidepressant.
