Damik
So according to the PI sheets taking the two together is contraindicated, but how much do I really have to worry about the prolonged QT interval? I don't have any heart problems that I'm aware of, I've never had an EKG to prove that, but it has always been beating when the gdoc uses the stethoscope... Anna
i personally would not take the two together without an EKG. They are both noted for having this warning... all aaps carry this issue to some extent, but these are some of the two worst offenders. Cetkat
Since it says that you're already on them, if you haven't noticed anything bad, you're probably ok. Doesn't hurt to check though. Especially if there's a planned increase for the Saphris as the likelihood of this happening is dose-related. Following that line of thought, I would think that spacing the doses out so that they peak at different times would help with that. Like taking your 2x Geodon at morning and early evening and Saphris right before bed - which you may be already doing.
Damik
I just started taking Saphris on Tuesday so I don't really have a long history of having the two of them together. I usually take the two of them about 30 min apart.
Cetkat
Ok, cool. I actually just looked it up to double check and Geodon's highest at about 4 hours, whereas Saphris is about 1 hour. For some reason I thought Saphris took longer.. it's probably because of the whole dissolving thing. So, yeah.. 30 mins, or even less, is good in this case. As far as what to do.. perhaps call your pdoc and get his/her advice on the matter since you haven't been on it long?
Damik
I talked to him today and he said it was rare and not to worry about it. I'll try not to but I'm a worrier so I'll give it my best.
SashaSue
If you're really worried, check in with your gp, see if he or she thinks you should be concerned.
Cetkat
http://www.crazyboards.org/forums/index.php/topic/52613-4-antipsychotics-anyone-else-like-this/ This OP's situation is different, but it mentions what you're concerned about. Take a look.

LexFlex
I'd say check your drug interaction chart whether it's minor, moderate, or major. If it's minor you probably won't have to worry much. If it's moderate then you need to get different AP's soon. If it's major then you may be experiencing prolongation of the QT interval. I been through it before on geodon and invega. It basically kept me from sleeping, every time I'd nod off into a sleep it would only last 1-2 seconds then I'd feel a jolt through my heart. It was very scary. However it wore off in 2 days after I discontinued the drug interaction. Hope this helps.
