It's been just over 24 hours since I last took Geodon (120mg), and I took my first dose of my new Antipsychotic (Abilify) this morning and all day today (it's now 5pm) i've had the above symptoms, non stop all day. Could this be a withdrawal symptom of the Geodon?

when i went off geodon i just felt generally icky and sick for a few days. i was on a low dose though, so i'd imagine you could feel sicker coming off of a higher dose.

when i went on abilify, however, i had really bad tremors, was super nauseous, and was so dizzy/lightheaded i couldn't walk a straight line (or stand half the time). i couldn't tell you for sure it was the abilify though, because my lithium levels were also very high and it was kind of a mess of getting put on and taken off of 4 drugs... my dr said he'd try abilify again if needed, but that he'd try other options first.

anyways, that's a long winded way of saying it might be the abilify as those are possible side effects. but it also might not be.

Did you titrate off ziprasidone [i.e. 120 - 80 - 60 - 40 - 20 - off] or did you stop taking 120mg and then started Abilify?

When I came off ziprasidone, I titrated off from 120mg in similar fashion to how I described above, although I think I did it a bit faster and stopped at 40mg. I was cross-tapering onto Solian too, so I didn't feel too many adverse affects except for a lower dip in mood for a few days.

However, I remember missing a dose of ziprasidone once and it was hell on earth. I had some shaking, nausea, dizziness and light headedness. It was very unpleasant.

Yeah. I got all of that and more when I went off Geodon, and I was at a much lower dose. You also have to think about Abilify's effects & how that may be contributing as well. For me, I didn't hit my low-point in the Geodon withdrawal until somewhere after 48 hours. After 72, I started to feel better. (If memory is serving me correctly.)

So there's no saying for sure it's from the Geodon, but it's quite possible.

I went straight off it and straight onto the Abilify.

I'm going to add to the list above:

  • Vomiting

Even though i'm bulimic I absolutely hate vomiting (ironic huh) so I really hope this side effects i'm getting do stop soon.
