SpartanForce
My doc put me on this med Mantidan 100mg, 1 pill in the morning for side effect's from the cocktail that I already take (sig). My question is: IS there any way this mix could go wrong? Like mood changes?
Velvet Elvis
It gave me really bad anxiety but I was taking it in conjunction with CNS stimulants.

notfred
You have got to be willing to put up with some start up side effects, otherwise you are wasting your time even trying them. Start up side effects have a way of going away if you continue to take the med. There are no perfect meds with no side effects and if you cut bait at the first sign of a side effect you will never find a med that works for you. nf
vanderk
Is the amantadine for lithium-induced tremors? Inderal is usually the first-line treatment for these.
Velvet Elvis
I'm guessing it's for EPS.
SpartanForce
Is the amantadine for lithium-induced tremors? Inderal is usually the first-line treatment for these. Yes it is for the tremors, but since it gave me mood changes I think I will stay off, I can handle the tremors I guess...
netsavy006
There are other medications that you could try for tremors if you think you may need it. I think propanolol is one of them.
SpartanForce
There is another reason: he helps me with the induced sexual side effects from the meds. Really helps my libido. "Amantadine, a dopamine agonist, is used both as an antiviral agent and as a treatment for Parkinson's disease. It has been shown in a number of small case series to reverse anorgasmia. Reported effective doses have ranged between 100mg to 400mg taken either on a daily or as-needed basis. In the most recent case series, 8 (42%) out of 19 patients with SSRI-induced sexual dysfunction improved with amantadine 200mg daily. Given dopamine's consistent effect as a neurotransmitter involved in sexual arousal, a number of other dopamine agonists have been explored as treatments for sexual side effects." vanderk
Lithium-induced tremors are often transient. But they can be persistent and quite pronounced in some folks. Dopamine agonists are just dicey. Heaven-sent for some. Hell in a pill for others.
SpartanForce
Well I am out of the amantadine since was making no good. The tremors are still there, and even more with the Wellbutrin now in the place of the Valdoxan, but I feel much better. Mind in first place, them the body.
