Duelist
Just wondering, I am pondering whether to order a jacket online or not. Hubby said that you shouldn't order something you can't try on first. What do you think?
LunaRufina
Base it on the return policy and if they pay for shipping both ways.
bpladybug
With Zappos if have free shipping both ways. I have ordered a lot of shoes and sent them back. Great service, and now I am a Zappos VIP. ha ha Old Navy is good also.
december_brigette
LOL. Online shopping is the hermits delight!!
Velvet Elvis
Amazon does free returns. I have amazon prime so I get free 2 days shipping. Combine that with free returns and it's really practical. I use it all the time.
Duelist
Thanks for the replies all, I really think I am going to have to order this jacket online because locally I cannot find a denim jacket for NOTHING! It's crazy, they used to sell them all the time, now I can't find even one style in the stores....Thanks again!
saveyoursanity
all the time, but I'm lazy about returning stuff so I really shouldn't buy clothes online anymore.
Guest Vapourware
I haven't bought any clothes online - the majority of my online purchases have been on books and the occasional music accessory [valves for my guitar amp, power packs, etc]. With clothes - I guess you would want to firstly measure yourself to check your size. Also check out the site's return policy.
ChemistryExperiment
I have ordered clothes online before. I often get clothes on ebay, actually. I love shopping online for stuff!
Thomas
I order most of my clothes online, because I am somewhat large and the big clothes in the shops aren't big enough or are 3 times as expensive. Definitely read the sizing information because there is considerable vaiations in the same size from different sites. Tommy
Duelist
I am larger too, working on dieting but still I am in need of a denim jacket so I have found a site with a great one but I am loathe to order because my other half said you shouldn't buy something without being able to try it on first. Oh well, if the local stores don't get them in soon I am going to have no choice but to get this jacket. Thanks everyone for the replies I feel better about it. Almost ready to go for it.... Moody
As long as you can return it if it doesnt fit, I would go for it. If they offer free return shipping, you might want to get the jacket in two sizes, so you can pick the best fit, and return the other. I often shop online for things I cant get locally. Also a big fan of Zappos and Amazon.
enlightened_plutonian
For clothes, especially with being in between sizes, I prefer to try them on at the shop. But I don't see anything wrong with buying them online if you know exactly what you want. I hate buying anything online, but that is more because I do not wish to receive packages that will not fit through my letterbox more than anything. But I do think it is a good thing for some people, especially if you don't want to go out or something like that.
exl2398
I have bought clothes online very rarely, because I am larger and flucuate in my weight enough that it is kinda not pratical for me to shop for that stuff online. I will buy absolutely anything else, though. I LOVE amazon.
Gearhead
As long as their return policy is good, and you'll actually return an item that doesn't fit, I'd say go ahead. And ordering two sizes is a good way to go, too, if you're uncertain about the fit. I like ordering from places that have proven consistent in their sizing, but until you're familiar with a brand, it's easier to order two and send one back. saveyoursanity
I know this is only tangential to the thread, but god I love igigi.com. Their clothes for plus size women are gorgeous & extremely flattering, and even though expensive (although wait for the sales, they have good ones--40% off clearance stuff, anyone?) they're VERY high quality. y58
I've ordered clothing online and haven't had any hassles. I find out their return policies beforehand and email them with sizing questions before ordering
Thomas
thanks, saveyoursanity for mentioning igigi.com their dresses look great, so I sent it to my wife, who does all her clothing shopping online.
Duelist
Well I have changed my mind about the vendor I was going to order through, onestopplus.com kinda has some bad reviews on sitejabber, so I am going to go with lane bryant I think, there is a nice sale going on right now, but then again I don't feel like driving an hour to the store to try one on, so I guess I am going to wait. Oh well. Not a good day to make any decisions anyway. Thanks again for all the replies everyone!
Thomas
I use King Size, another part of the Lane Bryant empire. I have been very happy with them. Their prices are good. Their sales are good, and they have pages and pages of closeouts in every catalog. The only problem is that I get more than one catalog a week sometimes. Duelist
That would bother me too....I mean one catalog per season is enough IMO.
Cetkat
The only problem is that I get more than one catalog a week sometimes. I used to get up to three of each. Moving gets rid of that. It's actually kinda funny to look at the different names & you can follow who sold your info to who that way. I've gotten stuff for Cetkat, Melissa (real last name), Melissa (fake last name), and the most funny and completely not on purpose, The (real last name) Trendsetter. That last one was New York and Company. I think someone in the data entry got bored. I find it hilarious.
Thomas
My wife and I like to ponder why we each get catalogs that would make more sense for the other. I get Woman Within (yet another Lane Bryant brand) at least once a week and I get email from them too. Now that one is probably because I got my wife a bathrobe from them a couple years back. Duelist
I don't get a lot of catalogs, I think I am thankful for that. LOL! I found a killer jacket on a site for a larger retailer up north called cabela's, anyone ever order with them? I might go with it. I just hate the thought of having to wait so damn long for a jean jacket to sew this cool patch on...Used to be they had them in stock at this time of year but NO ONE in my town has any! http://www.cabelas.c...ch-All+Products the womens or the mens in a backordered size: http://www.cabelas.c...lar/1227093.uts Not sure, but I think the women's would be better and they have it in stock, we'll see though, I have to look them up on sitejabber....Well three five star reviews all glowing, who knows? Maybe I have found my jacket....I would have gone with the one on lane bryant's site but it has a zipper and those are a liability on a jacket, they can break so easily, part of the charm of a sturdy denim jacket is that it has those grometed on buttons so it's durable for years to come. crtclms
I buy most of my clothes used on eBay and at Goodwill (it is one of my green hangups). I find brands that I know fit me, and then can order being fairly certain they will fit. I know Coldwater Creek, Mossimo and Merona (Target), Apt. 9, Brooks, etc., all fit me well, and that actually pulls up a fair number of clothes and styles on eBay. I also buy most things that aren't perishable online, but I buy perishables sometimes, too.
Duelist
Wow, did some more research and cabela's is out! I am left with sears's Lee Denim Jacket, I just wish I could try one on in the store you know? http://www.sears.com...=4&blockType=G4 So I am going to wait, see if Walmart gets some in. Surely they will...I hope....Wow! I just called them and they said they will be getting them in soon, so I am holding onto hope that they get them in in the next week or two, I really have to get one to put my def leppard patch onto! Kiddo has been so sweet and letting me wear his jacket but it's not quote big enough for me...LOL!
