ahalo
If 10 or 20mg Lexapro is the standard therapeutic dose will 40mg do anything for me? Or - has anyone taken higher than the therapeutic dose of an AD and had success? Thanks.
muriel
It's very possible. Very high doses of SSRIs are being used now to treat OCD. Though 20mg is the highest recommended dose in the PI sheet, I do believe psychiatrists prescribe more at times.
hallowedink
Different doses work for different people. It's possible that you do need a higher dose. Also, as Muriel said, there's experimentation into using higher doses to treat some conditions such as OCD. No reason why that can't work for depression too. Cetkat
It's possible. I'd go with your pdoc on this one.. sometimes experience counts more than studies. If they think if could help, it just may.

chimpmaster
Sounds like its worth a shot. If it doesn't work, you can always change to a different anti-depressant.
