breezy
I'm tired all day, to the point where I can't keep my eyes open at all no matter how hard I try. And then I still sleep at night but I wake up at 2am, even after taking 10mg melatonin, Xanax, and perphenazine, and drinking sleepytime vanilla or extra. I called my pdoc and I'm supposed to wait until Monday to see if the symptoms continue but I'm so tired of this and I'm also not eating. I have absolutely no appetite. I couldn't finish a bowl of oatmeal this morning. I'm living on pretzels. And tea. Has anyone else been on this combo? I read that these are common side effects. What have your experiences been and how long did they last?
Gearhead
Pretty much everything you're taking has sedation as a possible side effect. And the Cymbalta and the perphenazine may be...damn it, what's the word I'm looking for? Enhancing each other's performance. Potentiating! Ha-that took me ten minutes. You can check possible interactions at http://www.drugs.com/drug_interactions.php/ But you should also bear in mind that a week-it's been a week, right?-is often not enough time for side effects like sedation to go away. Are you unable to eat because of nausea, or is it just the usual depression killing your appetite thing? I know that one. Either way, you need to tell your pdoc on Monday. You really will feel better if you can eat regularly. And I know this sounds optimistic verging on sadistic, but try to get a little exercise. Especially in the morning. Seriously, don't hate me; it'll help. You can do it. A walk around the block. Go with one of your parents if you're feeling dopey. Keep in touch, honey. You can do it. breezy
I started them on Tuesday, with the exception of the Lamictal which I've been on for about a year now. I'll give them time, and call my pdoc on Monday. I haven't had any crazy-scary or weird side effects yet--knock on wood. My parents live an hour and a half away; however, I will take this borderline-sadistic advice and bike around my block twice, at minimum. I'll even do my laundry today! And thanks for the link, that really helps. Bri
Catnapper
I can't speak to your other meds, and maybe they are influencing each other, but when I started Lamictal, it also was sedating for me as the pdoc prescribed it for morning dosing. But I told him it was making me too sleepy, so he said to start taking it at bedtime instead. Voila! He said that about 20% of his patients find it sedating so take it at night. When do you take your meds? It might be worth switching some of them to bedtime if you're not already doing that.
breezy
I'm feeling a little bit better today, drowsy but able to keep my eyes open. I took that walk/bike ride this morning. 18 minutes. I ate actual food, but it didn't settle very well. Hopefully it keeps getting better.
Anna
I hope it keeps getting better for you too. Adjusting to new meds can take a bit of time, totally. Hell, I find even dosage changes screw with me for awhile, you know? Anna
