trd77
What's the verdict on this? Is it individually? Well, I know a response to med is individual, but is it more prone to cause anxiety than to be anxiolytic? Thank you all.
jt07
For me, it causes a lot of anxiety, and I need something else for anxiety. I don't think that Abilify is known to be tranquilizing, especially at the lower doses.

The Emperor
I think it worked wonders for both my anxiety and my depression, but that's just me.
saveyoursanity
Worked wonders for my anxiety, did nothing that I could tell for my depression.
Cetkat
For me, it caused anxiety but helped depression.
saveyoursanity
Hahah, I guess your answer so far is: "try it and find out." When I say it helped me with my anxiety, I mean it REALLY helped. I went from having 4-5 panic attacks a week to none, from anxiety on a lvl of 7 or even 8 ALL THE TIME to maybe a 2 or 3.
daisy131864
i don't know what type of anxiety you were dealing with, but i have not had a single panic attack since starting on abilify, and my obsessive thoughts have stopped about 90-95%. just an FYI- we had a psychiatric pharmacist come into the pharmacy school where i work, and she spoke about abilify and psychosis, and how it tends to work better on depression and anxiety than it does on psychosis. but for some people it's too activating and causes anxiety, and for some people it mellows them out just enough. it all depends on your body chemistry i guess. Anna
Abilify is just so, so individual and dose dependent, really. But, you have a fair shot at it working on anxiety for you, provided you don't get akathesia very badly which is its own special form of hell (Ii don't see how anyone with akathesia could not be anxious, but that is just me). trd77
I believe Seroquel would be a better option since I'm an anxiety sufferer, but I'm uneasy about the diabetes risk.
muriel
Can't hurt to try. It was anxiolytic for me at all. Abilfy and I didn't get along well. But I tend to have weird reactions to drugs that hit serotonin really hard.

In particular, it helps with my anhedonia and lack of motivation which make up a large part of my depression. As far as lifting my mood, it helps somewhat. It seems to work extremely well in combination with the Ritalin that I take. Before Ablilify, Ritalin didn't do much for my mood, but with Abilify, the Ritalin really lifts my mood.
