What do you think about using Metformin to undo AAP-induced weight gain? I'm overweight and despite daily exercise I do not seem to lose weight and since I'm starting Seroquel now I'm afraid that I will put on more weight and increase risk of diabetes and other compilcations.

My pdoc was reluctant to the idea and wants to see how my situation develops over one months, which I think is prudent.

I have been on metformin and AAP for years, it works great. Lost 60 pounds on it the first time around.

Thanks for the info. What dosage are you on? What AAP and dosage are you taking?

Well I'm currently on 100 Seroquel XR and 2mg Risperdal but when started the metformin I was on the risperdal and 800 Seroquel (went through several AAP's with Seroquel as a constant. I have found it to work wonders both at the high and low spectrum of my AAP dosing. Anyway, YMMV, but bottom line, it's worth giving it a shot for a few months. Keep in mind life style changes (which I never got around to, I lost the weight on diet alone) will multiply the benefit you get from the metformin.]

Best of luck.
