Er...hallo

Recommended Posts

Introductions are always super awkward in my opinion. I never know what on earth to say. Um...anyway. Hi. I'm Eisa. I'm 23. I've been "officially" diagnosed with major depression, social anxiety, PTSD, and well...one therapist sort of said complex PTSD, but he wasn't allowed to diagnose me with it 'cause he's a grad student and it wasn't in the DSM. And DID/DDNOS, but the only person I talked to about the dissociation didn't believe in diagnoses. So there you go.

Not...er...currently in therapy right now, actually, I had to leave the good one 'cause I graduated, and that was my fourth in about two years. Not had very good experiences at all. I need to find someone, however, because I've semi-officially "given up" on finding a job in this town and decided to apply for SSI, which really I should have done like 5 years ago. Fail. (I have clubfeet, as well, which has been the primary reason people have encouraged me to apply.) Oddly, I have never been on medication at all, which surprises me a lot when I hear about all these people who had medications flung at them like candy. My very first therapist suggested an anti-depressant, but she never followed up on it or anything. And that was it. I actually kind of would like one, to be honest, especially if something could help with my anxiety. Truthfully, that's what bothers me the most, at least most of the time. I can't even make phone calls except to my boyfriend and some of my family.

As far as I know right now, there are 17 people in our system, including me. That number is liable to change, however, because I keep finding out about people hiding from me or dormant or...something. It's been a very head-spinny ride the past year.

But yeah. Anyways. Hi. That's me. How are you?

Hi, Eisa. It may be that your doctors have thought that therapy would be more effective for you than meds, but I generally think it's a good idea to use both. Whatever works!

Welcome to CB.

Sometimes it's worth actually telling your doctor that you'd like to try medication. Hopefully s/he will be receptive to that. Also, unlucky about therapy - I know what it's like to have keep switching, and it's pretty crappy. I hope you find a new one soon!
