In my personal opinion Remeron has a nasty habit of making you want to eat sugar and nothing but sugar, and unfortunately I put on about 40 pounds in the first 3 months I was on it and the appetite suppressing factors of Effexor did nothing to balance it out.  Of course it is hard to say what all was contributing since at the time I was taking Remeron I was taking 300mg Effexor, 6mg Gabatril BID, 300mg Welburtin, and Ambien as needed to sleep. So hard to figure out what exactly was causing what.

Personally the Remeron worked great for me for a few months once I got over the initial drowsiness.  But it pooped out on me and no amount of dose increasing brought the effects back (started at 30, then to 45, then to 60).

thanks..... the closest I'LL ever get to California lol!

I don't drink soda anyway, am a water and fruit juice gal, and I hope being a demi veg anyway will help.

And the thought of the weight, spots AND greasy hair should keep me off sweet stuff.....since I started taking Magnesium supplements I seem to crave chocolate less....amazing since I'm premenstrual right now....

It seems weird being on two anti-d's of a sort of similar type...., but he's giving me the Remeron to work on the Anxiety, Panic Attacks and Insomnia/out of sync sleeping patterns....

I am underweight 'normally' with occasional flights into the borders of anorexia....and I rather want to stay 'there'..... "help!"

Hi Katie,

I was on Remeron for about a year and a half and if you are under weight I say go for it.  It made me sleep like a log.  Unfortunately it also made me fat, but I was already battling being overweight.  It helped my anxiety greatly, but crapped out on me after awhile.  Now I'm just on Effexor and miss that fantastik sleep I had on the Remeron.

I have read that the Remeron/Effexor combo is called "California Rocket Fuel"!!!  LMAO!

It must be good with a name like that!

Good luck,

Devilla

thanks Devilla ;)

I have a question......tonight is my first dose (15mg) and I've got to get up at 6.30 tomorrow morning to go to work....

what time do people suggest I take this zonk out pill so it gives me its full sleepytime bonus and lets me feel relatively non zombied in the morning????

thanks,

Katie

I would suggest going to bed as early as possible.  The first dose really knocks you on your ass!!  You might not hear the alarm if you take it too late, or feel sluggish in the morning.  I remember waking up and thinking "Holy crap!  That's what sleep is!".

Have a good snooze.
