New guy

After five years on my old bipolar online support group, the people behind the scenes shut it down without notice. It had been fairly inactive for the past couple years. So, I've found this site as a replacement.

I've been working full-time at a grocery store for the past four years, haven't been fired from a job since '07 and that wasn't even my fault. That firing happened during my second week as a night shift convenience store clerk and it was only because I got robbed with $300 in my registers (another story). I had some PTSD after that. Keeping a job used to be my biggest problem (going off my meds didn't help) before and after I was diagnosed bipolar in 2003.

I'm 29 and live alone with a cat, and I tend to be as reclusive and antisocial as possible although I currently have a girlfriend for once (which is wierd for me). I have also been diagnosed schizoaffective by doctors at UTSW when I was a research subject there for a couple of studies. I may need to get a second opinion to confirm that. I have participated in several research studies to supplement my income. Unfortunately, I've been a clinic patient for the past four years due to limited means, so my access to decent care has been limited. My doctors have been incompetent and nobody cares at those places, so I just wait in line and get or even request (after research) what drug I think might work.

Recently, my biggest mental health problems have been paranoia, disorganized thinking, thinking about attacking people, I've had a problem with spacing out and having imaginary conversations with characters in my head (not hearing voices), and basically I think way too much at all times. And I may look disturbed at work, at the grocery store where I've been working as a bagger (previously as a night stocker and such). Plus, I've accidentally seen someone watch the news and I heard about the Occupy movement which I know to be linked to the New World Order conspiracy, so now I'm freaking out over that and getting drawn into conspiracy theory again. This is why I haven't watched the news and avoided knowing of current affairs since I got psychotic on conspiracy in '07-'08 back when I was a freelance writer. So after a couple years mostly off of antipsychotics or only on 5mg Abilify, I will soon be back on an AAP, probably Zyprexa, my old favorite.

Anyways, don't know if that was too long of an introduction. Sorry if it was, an have a good one.

Hi, and welcome! If you don't worry about the length of your posts, you will fit right in here. I hope you will enjoy this board and the range of topics we discuss here. I've never been on a BP board, but I really like this one so far.
