motori
Hi all, Ive recently started Remeron (30mgs daily), and even though its only been 10 days, I honestly feel its having an overall positive effect. Im sleeping better, eating more, starting to think about exercise, and the horrible dark brain fog and indescribable hollow deadness is starting to ease.. Its the first med thats had such a positive effect so quickly for me since fluoxetine. Im curious to hear if anyone else has had such a quick positive response to Remeron?. Has it worked well for anyone else out there?. I know this is kind of a pointless post, but I think Im just in shock that Ive found a med that seems to really agree with me.. guess im finding it hard to believe!. Any other Remeron success stories?. Thanks guys.
stankydrawz
It definitely helped me pull out of a fairly bad depression and stabilize my mood for the short time I was on it, but I decided to discontinue it for now because it made me too tired all the time and gave me nightmares/terrors. This might have been because of the dose I was on tho, (apparently the lower dose has a more sedating effect). I still don't understand that exactly... But if I feel myself in deep throes of depression again I may give it another go. For now I'll just stick with my xanax.
motori
Hi Stanydrawz - thanx for the reply!. I get what you mean about the dose related sedation. I started on 15mgs for 5 days, which made me much sleepier than the 30 mgs that I moved onto after that point. I thought it was just me getting more accustomed to the med..but perhaps not?. I have been having pretty vivid dreams on it, but no nightmares or terrors.. but then sleeping at all without zopiclone is pretty much a miricle for me. Im glad it pulled you out of a bad depression.. hopefully you'll never need it again.
chimpmaster
Hey guys I too have just started remeron. Today is day 3 for me. So far so good, though I am cross tapering prozac with remeron. Thankfully I have valium for the cross taper part. I will post as I progress.
motori
Hi Chimpmaster, I hear you on the switching meds thing. I found coming off prozac (fluoxetine), not too bad.. But its always slightly different from person to person. I hope its not too rough for you, and that Remeron kicks in for you as quickly as it seems to have for me. I appreciate your reply, and id definately be interested to hear how it goes for you.
chimpmaster
Hi Motori and all. Day 5 today. Im on 30mg of remeron now. Its working well, though I am incredible tired all the time - sleeping 12-14 hrs a night. Maybe even more. Ill post once I start to stabilise. My target dose is 45mg. Cetkat
Remeron agreed with me quite well. I went up to 45mg (I think). It didn't do anything for my depression or anything... but - HUGE - difference in sleep quality. And, good sleep will influence nearly everything else. At least that's my opinion. Cinnamon
I just started Remeron about a week ago, and I'm pretty sure it's a miracle drug. I'm not a placebo effect type of person - most meds I've been on haven't done a darned thing - but I swear I could feel a difference after three days. However...as a recovered anorexic, I'm still super-sensitive about weight gain, and I've gained 2.5 pounds in the last week without even eating more, so I am flipping out about whether I should keep taking it. But it sounds like you are happy with having your appetite back, and I don't think you're crazy for thinking it's working already - it did for me - so I'm really happy for you! :-)
jt07
Remeron by itself did not help me. But I've found Remeron in combination with citalopram is great. It helps increase motivation and decrease the apathy induced by the SSRI. I wish I could say that it was my miracle drug, but it really wasn't. Cinnamon
Actually, I should have mentioned what jt07 did (although it's in my signature). Remeron did not help me by itself, but it is really working wonders with Luvox and Latuda.
Closure
Remeron agreed with me quite well. I went up to 45mg (I think). It didn't do anything for my depression or anything... but - HUGE - difference in sleep quality. And, good sleep will influence nearly everything else. At least that's my opinion. 15 mg daily of mirtazapine definitely helps my sleep, which my depressed moods disrupt heavily, and my appetite, which they often render to nothing so that I have to forcefeed myself, and my anxiety and OCD, which had gotten pretty bad before I went on it, but does not help my depressed moods at all. 30 mg daily of mirtazapine (which I accidentally was on for a month when my pdoc did not intend it) was the same, except that it did not make me quite as sleepy and it seemed to make me much more prone to mixed moods and the like than 15 mg (while not actually helping my depressed moods themselves at all).
