olga
You're not a bad person at all. I can't imagine living in an apartment in that temperature. To me, it would make sense for you and your reasonable roommate to call a meeting. Majority rules, right? So if the two of you vote to keep it at 70º or whatever is a reasonable temperature, you should overrule this heat nut. She can put a sweater on if that's too cool for her. It's irresponsible in terms of the environment, too. She's wasting massive amounts of energy. olga
crtclms
I live in California. Right now, I am wearing long sleeves, pants, shoes, and I have a lap blanket and sweat shirt right next to me. I always am ridiculously cold, but it is just stupid and amoral to waste money and energy like that. Plus, I know my husband would be terribly miserable and uncomfortable at that temperature. I know that is obvious, but if she is trying to use the excuse that she is "thin-blooded," it really isn't asking too much to tell her to put on a sweater (or two). Plus, if you are on a budget in CA, you need to save your energy money for the summer.
Gearhead
You aren't a bad person. Bad people kick puppies and trip little old ladies when they're crossing the street. You have a perfectly reasonable bone to pick with your roommate, who sounds like quite a spoiled brat. I think you and your other reasonable roommate should call a house meeting and declare force majeure and take control of the thermostat.
