BlueDream0919
Hello... My name is Heather and I'm 26 years old, diagnosed with bipolar II. I've been reading the boards for some time, but never contributed - I sometimes have trouble communicating my thoughts and feelings, but I think it's a good thing to do. I research mental illness like its my job, so hopefully I can share some of my wisdom. I tend to be great at helping everyone except myself. Right now I'm experiencing a crisis... I've been on Effexor for years, and at 1st it was a God-send, but then I began rapid-cycling and refused to admit it for a long time. So just finished tapering off Effexor and tapering up Lamictal, along with Saphris. I feel absolutely horrible. No longer the social butterfly I once was, all I want to do is curl up in a ball and cry. I am extremely emotional and fly of the handle over everything. My anxiety is crippling. So I told my pdoc how bad I've been feeling and he prescribed me Xanax. I took it once - yeah I guess it took the anxiety away because I passed out for about 12 hours. I don't even know how I'm supposed to feel anymore. Is this just Effexor withdrawal or was I really better when I was on it?? Sure I could be a little impractical, but I was confident and felt good about myself (most of the time). It was much better than this hell I'm in right now. Sorry for the long message... I feel scared and lost right now. These mood stabilizers suck all the life and creativity out of me. It makes me wonder if there harming me more than helping Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Koloth
Hi BlueDream0919 Maybe the Effexor was working in some sense (for anxiety and depression) but bad in another due to the rapid cycling. Just hang in there as you might just need a while to adjust. I would personally think you need more than Xanax to get by but I'm not a doctor. olga
Welcome to Crazyboards---I hope we can be of help to you. It sounds like your doctor hasn't found the right combination of drugs for you. You shouldn't feel like curling up in a ball and withdrawing from everything. I think you need to go back to him and try something else. If you hang out in the bipolar sub-forum, you'll get an idea of some of the drug combinations our members are taking with some success. Good luck and I hope you can find the right meds for your body. olga
