concerned about mirtazapine

So i am going to try and convice my pdoc to prescribe me mirtazapine for residual anxiety. My concern is that it is supposed to enhance norepinephrine and increases frontal lobe activity. this would be bad for generalized anxiety, no?

With neurotransmitters, it's rarely a one to one equivalence - the brain is really complicated and so are the medications we use to alter it. In practice, mirtazapine has a pretty good track record for anxiety (it was good for mine while I was on it) but unfortunately the only way to know what it would do for you is to give it a try.

but the fact that it works on NE doesn't automatically mean it will be bad for anxiety, especially when it also has other actions.

thank you i found that helpful. i dont think it will be a problem to get mirtazapine because i am technically underweight and its not like im asking for a schedule IV drug.

For me at least, out of anything, mirtazapine has helped my anxiety the most; while it is still present, it is dramatically reduced compared to before I went on it.
