Benzoman
I remember being in hospital withdrawing from paxil. electric shock sensations, nonestop crying, being afraid, shaking, and being like border line psycho. I can say with all honesty its on par with opiate withdrawal. on the bright side, that night, they gave me my first ever dose of lorazepam. Just a 0.5mg. suddenly everything was right in the world and i went on reading the pot magazines I had brought to the hospital which they suprisingly let me read. good times. firelight
Paxil quit working for me suddenly. So I stopped it and had no withdrawal symptoms actually. I had been on it at 40mgs for several months, with lamictal.
rowan77
I took Paxil, which is called Seroxat in Ireland for 18 months from 1997-1998 and it stopped working for me so I was switched to mirtazapine while I was an inpatient and had no problem with discontinuation effects so I guess I was quite lucky as I hear that there can be horrendous effects
jt07
I tapered off Paxil in April. Then I suffered for the month of May and part of June from horrible withdrawal that included a weird swish in my head and wildly oscillating moods. I would cry at anything. It was pretty nasty. I didn't have any of those shocks though. Thank God.
notfred
Benzos end the shocks and all of the withdrawal symptoms, for me. It's too bad they are not more widely used for this purpose, they can end a lot of suffering.

It's too bad they are not more widely used for this purpose, they can end a lot of suffering. They're also effective in withdrawal from long term alcohol abuse. They prevent life threatening withdrawal symptoms in that case.
Becks
Years ago I was given Paxil by my GP. It did absolutely nothing for my depression except send me into what I now know was a mixed up disaster of a mess episode. I took myself off of it and suffered with the brain zaps until my pdoc finally got my dx right and started me on better meds for my dx.
Neveah5
I had the worst withdrawal from Paxil. I couldn't be around people. I became so panic stricken and would cry uncontrollably. My husband had to take me to the ER. They shot me up with Valium and I was messed up for what seemed like a week. Electric shocks. Wow. It was a truly bad time in my life. GonnaLaugh
I took Paxil maybe 10 years ago and I felt so nice and pleasant that I felt like a different person. It made me constipated, so the doctor switched me to Wellbutrin, which I ended up being allergic to. I should've just kept taking the Paxil and the fiber supplements.
