Benzoman
I'm really curious about this Benzo, because not only does it have anti-anxiety effects, its also a hypnotic. Can anyone share their experience with this benzo and share how it differs from the others, such as ativan and clonazepam?
Guest Vapourware
I had a very brief experience with Temazepam a few years ago. I dropped into the emergency department as I was suicidal and came out with some temazepam tablets. I can't remember the dosage, but I do remember that Temazepam did nothing for me. I believe it is largely used for sleep.
mcjimjam
It is probably the most popular sleeping pill here in oz. It works maybe the first night I take it but by the third it doesn't. It worked if I only took it once a week and took three tablets. I can't comment on it's use for anxiety. I haven't heard of it being used for that. I guess I wasn't anxious in the morning because I still felt drugged as though I'd taken a lot of Valium, Klon, Ativan etc.
ninetynine
I know someone who took it for sleeping. That's the only person I know who has used it. It seemed to work for him.
rowan77
While Temazepam does have anti-anxiety properties it's primary indication is for insomnia. It is sometimes prescribed as a premedication for minor procedures or dental work. Temazepam is a controlled drug because it is often abused. I have never heard of it being used for anxiety but that does not say that it is not being prescribed for anxiety. I used it for insomnia many times and find it to be a great hypnotic
Thomas
I've been using it for insomnia for a number of years. It seems to work very well for me.
hallowedink
I was originally prescribed Temazepam for Insomnia, but it did nothing for me. Since then, I have taken it when I've been feeling very panicky, and it has helped me a bit in terms of anxiety on those occasions, but not much. I'm not prescribed it anymore. I do know several people who are prescribed Temazepam for sleep, and it works very well for them.

Benzoman
Thats very interesting you'd all mention that because I know an insomniac who uses it basically for sleep as well.
hallowedink
Thats very interesting you'd all mention that because I know an insomniac who uses it basically for sleep as well. So far as I know, that is the only thing it's prescribed for here in the UK. Not sure about other countries. But it is a class C controlled substance here. WinterRosie
Granma was given it for anxiety. Maybe co-incidentally her anxiety kept her awake at night, though.
SoFla
currently Temazepam only works for me at 90mg, so im now looking for something to replace it with. Halcion comes to mind but my pdoc doesn't want to prescribe it in general.
daisy
It's the only medicine to EVER help my insomnia. I generally take 30 mg a night, but sometimes I take 60. I didn't realize it was supposed to do anything for anxiety at all, despite the fact that it's a benzo. It's never helped mine.
Fromsmurf
I'm on a short term dose of 90mg temazepam, per night, yes 90... the doctor wants me to get some sleep. it's working but not as good as I had hoped after the third day. I start trazadone soon, Trazadone is a retread for me and I honestly can't remember what the result was, though I took it for a couple of years. I do like how I feel in the morning after taking the temazepam. For a couple of hours I feel very comfortable inside my head with little anxiety.
