lunachic33
Help! Been on Xanax XR for 3 years ( before that reg X off and on so like 10 yrs) and Seroquel XR(3 mo). The Seroquel does not seem to be helping me sleep at night but in the day I sleep for like 2 hrs. Now the Xanax stopped working, Yes...I mean it stopped working: My body is wayyy to used to it. And I kept getting diarrhea and shaking spells. I tried to go to the doc but agoraphobia was kicking my ass and EMTS were called. So in lieu of ambulances threat of psych hospital I somehow managed to get to my doc panicking all the way. He gave me Klonopin to take to replace the 3 times a day dosage. I am terrified and I feel weird. So much so that even though I was supposed to take it this morning I took it in the afternoon @ 2. It's 5 and I still feel odd and don't know when to take next one but don't want to be addicted to this either--that's my real "?" Thanks for any suggestions -Lunachic33
HAL9000
My doc told me if you use benzos "as needed" addiction is less likely. The problem is so many doctors are prescribing it as daily doses and that seems to create a lot of the addiction issues.
chimpmaster
You have been advised by your dr to use the klonopin. So use it when you need it. Don't suffer in silence. As for dependence, tolerance and addiction, klonopin is better than xanax in many ways. It will last much longer and is suitable for a once a day dosage, whereas with xanax you will probably find yourself taking it multiple times per day due to its really short half-life. Melaniedefacto
I take Klonopin for Akathesia, but it doesn't help me with anxiety at all. Other than quieting my movement problems I'd think I was taking a sugar pill. So be careful. Everything works for everyone differently. Changing meds, especially benzos can be dangerous. What is it going to take to get through to people on here that dependence and addiction are NOT THE SAME THING. Come. On. I am not the only person who has addressed this issue overandoverandover.
