So for the past week I have been experiencing blurry vision when I wear my glasses and I am reading something such as a text on my phone or text on my laptop. When I take off my glasses, I can read just fine, but I can't see things far away (i'm near sighted). When I'm wearing my glasses, I can see things far away but not if they are 6 inches to a foot away from my face.

I was wondering if any of my medications can cause blurry vision, or if it sounds like something else. I am hopefully going to the optometrist sometime this week to get it sorted out.

Thanks for any insight.

So after two weeks I posted on this forum about my blurry vision I went to see an optometrist She said my eyes were fine, but she gave me a prescription for bifocals just in case, but I took the regular prescription because it was like $200 more. Several months later I am having the same blurry vision problem, but its more intense. When I take off my glasses, I can see things about 8 inches in front of me, but when I put my glasses on, I can only see things about 6+ yards away.

I have changed a few medication since I last posted. I now take:

Lithium 1200mg, Seroquel 800mg, Topamax 125mg, Cogentin 2mg, Wellbutrin 100mg, Verapamil 100mg, Ativan 1-2 mg PRN, Flovent HFA inhalor, Albuterol inhalor PRN, Vitamin E 1600 iu, Fish Oil, levothyroxine .005mg

I see my psychiatrist next week, but I was wondering if anyone has any ideas? I've been taking the cogentin and lithium for years so I don't know if they would still cause blurry vision.

Thanks for the help guys.

If you really want your eyes checked, you should be seeing an ophthalmologist. An optometrist can check your vision, but an ophthalmologist would examine your eyes to find out what is going on inside the eyeball, and behind it (the optic nerve). Changes in vision that are rapid should be looked at by a doctor who treats conditions of the eyes. All an optometrist can do is give you a prescription for glasses.

The Wellbutrin you were taking is 1/3 the usual therapeutic dose, so it would seem unlikely that it was affecting your vision that strongly. If the vision problems do not clear up, I would strongly suggest that you consult an eye specialist.
