Seroquel - blocked nose and causing panic attacks

Recommended Posts

I am taking 200mg of seroquel, and have been for about 2 months.

SOMETIMES, it completely blocks my nose, and usually at the same time, the sedation and 'stoned' feeling are stronger. I often have a severe panic attack when feeling like this.

I'm planning on trying the XR version, but won't be till next week.

My question is:are there things that make it more likely to do this sometimes. Does it make any difference with/without food? Taking it with lots of water or little? How much sun I had during the day? I don't know. What common things would change the effect it has on me 30mins after taking it?

seroquel makes my nose run a little but not completely blocked.

the only suggestion i have is don't drink coffee for an hour or so after taking your seroquel. it's a bitch, i know, if you have to take it in the morning like i do. but if i don't wait until after that little tide of sedation mixed with a big wave of anxiety, the caffiene will turn me into a walking panic attack. i have noticed it's a little better with food, because my stomach isn't empty taking my night dose and the wave of anxiety isn't so strong. hope trying the XR might help you, i'd try it but my insurance won't cover it.

I have the same problem. My sinuses turn into a block of wood and I feel as if I'm choking, because my head is packed all the way down to the top of my throat. Sometimes it wakes me up because I can't breathe. It's a horrifying feeling.

Water helps. And if you're consuming any alcohol at any point in your day, stop. That helps too. Sometimes it seems to me that eating something salty and proteinacious like a slice of salami or a handful of pistachios helps, but I have no empirical evidence for that, just years of experience.

The XR does seem to me to have less of that effect. It's the IR that really nails me.
