While on latuda I notice my eyes twitch. Is this something to be concerned about? I've been on latuda on and off for the past year. Never had this happen before latuda. It seems to happen everyday. Not all the time but in spurts all throughout the day. So what do you guys think is this a valid concern? Would this be a reason to stop the med? Got a pdoc appointment this saturday but not entirely sure if I should demand a new drug or give it some time.

I've had this happen before, I did associate it with meds as well, I always thought it was the beginnings of EPS showing its ugly head. For me I started getting shakes and twitches, if or until this starts to happen I would stay on it.

I get twiches, but it is related to my carbamazepine (Tegretol), an anticonvulsant. It could be related to your Neurontin (also, anticonvulsant) and not the Latuda. Talk to your pdoc if you are worried about it.

When are involuntary movements enough of a reason to stop a drug?

Eye twitch or eyelid twitch? The first needs reporting, the second is more common and much more likely to be harmless.

Most common causes of eyelid twitch are lack of sleep, stress, and marginally low potassium levels.

So the answers are "Try to cultivate a more relaxed lifestyle" (technically correct but no-one valuing their life ought to say that to someone hanging on by their fingernails) and upping potassium levels modestly. Drinking fresh tomato juice, or eating bananas for those not into the taste of that, can produce rapid improvement in some people.

Yeah eyelid twitch. I'm sure its med related though.

My pdoc sucks. I talked to him about the twitch and he said I worry too much and its not TD. This twitch has been going on for a month. I know its the latuda. I just feel like i'm in a spot where I don't want to continue the latuda and have this get worse and turn into TD or become permanent. I don't want to gain weight either. Such a crappy position to be in. I dunno if I should just stop it, and definitely don't want to end up regretting not stopping. Latuda isn't even as effective as my old meds anyways. Just a tough spot to be in. If I knew the twitch would go away I'd keep taking latuda but I've waited for awhile now and its not getting better.

So what do you suggest? And on what grounds do you base your claim that you are right, and your pdoc, who is trained in the use of psychiatric medications, is wrong?

And while I don't happen to think you have TD, If you had, why wouldn't it be from the Seroquel? Haven't you been on that longer?

The current medication i'm on just isn't working. Each night I deal with this intense painful depression. Then once to twice a week I deal with racing/ out of control thoughts. Where my body feels intense restlessness and agitation. It just feels like I lose control of my mind and I dunno if i'm hearing voices or just dealing with anxious thoughts. It is just a terrible thing to do deal with especially as often as I do. Then i'm getting this side effect of my eyes/eyebrows twitching/pulsating.

Also I know it's not the seroquel because seroquel rarely causes eps and latuda is notorious for it and also this started to happen once i recontinued the latuda.

Yes, but the longer you are on an AAP, the more likely you are to develop TD. And it isn't that Seroquel *can't* cause TD.

You say you have been "off and on" Latuda for a year. Is this the first time you have had this symptom?

And now it is both eyelids, *and* your brow? That is a change from what you said last night. If it is new, call your pdoc.

Not to mention Emettman's ideas are cheap, and can't hurt.

Ever since I stopped risperdal I've been having these anxious/panic/ racing thoughts/ depression at night etc. As far as the eye twitching that never happened till the addition of latuda. It doesn't happen all the time. But I have noticed it everyday for atleast the past month.

I've had the same thing, but as weird as this sounds, I get "nose twitches." Like, it feels strange, like a twitch usually does, and if I look in the mirror, I see it barely moving, kind of above the bridge of the nose. Sometimes get tremors. But I'm also on 450 mg of Wellbutrin which I guess can cause that too. So I don't know...
