Heya,

Atkins wouldn't work for me because meat and cheese are my favourite foods anyway.

It works I think when people get annoyed/bored/sick of eating meat all the time.

I of course could eat a half-dozen eggs and a 24-ounce steak three times a day for a year and only want more.

If your kidneys are in good shape, it's probably ok to try, but (obligatory caveat here) always ask your FP/GP when starting any diet/nutrition plan.

For me, the "eat more vegetables, no matter what else you do" diet has worked well, but that's a *lot* of vegetables.

Heya,

Echo Kassi.

And add, the get-off-your-couch-and-go-for-a-walk diet.

This has also helped me.

Although when I ask the drug reps, "When are you guys going to bring me samples of the get-off-your-couch-and-go-for-a-walk pill?" they can only laugh nervously.

I tried Atkins - I lost a hell of a lot of weight on it - 40 pounds but ended up knackering my kidneys so its not really advisable or worth it. Ive switched to Weightwatchers and I have lost 2 pounds since starting it last week. Their meals are really yummy - especially the desserts and you dont feel at all deprived. Good luck! ;)

It's important not to shed the weight too fast, as you'll just pack it on again. I dropped weight fast on my meds and it's creeping back to where it was.

Dieting is very hard for me. However, I know that the less sugar and simple carbs I eat, the longer it takes me to get hungry again. I also know that if you don't mind working out really hard, it can be an easier way to lose weight. And, even if you don't lose a pound, you'll be healthier and look better because you'll have more muscle and less fat, your body will handle sugar better, etc. When I was younger, I could work out so hard that I could eat just about anything. My snacks were meal sized, and my meals....

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

It cracks me up that that Atkins fucker died of a heart attack.

Kristina

I beleive he died from cracking his head on ice in New York, then was in a coma for a while. But, I could be worng.

As has diets, it's a lot like meds. Ya gotta keep trying untill you find

"the one".

I agree w/Kassianne. I lost a lot, very quickly when I went on Effexor,

but it wasn't because Effex made me not feel hungery, it was the dry

mouth, and me drinking gallons of water that made me full.

my BIGGEST recommendation would be to by a book, called 'you are what you eat'.

it basically explains the same things as a nutritionist would, and doesnt cost nearly as much as a nutritionist would charge you.

the 3 ways that you SHOULD be eating - which includes ALL foods, not fad diets which make you lose weight fast and have to somehow maintain for the rest of your life.

it also includes other reasons for physical problems you may be having now, and how you can help them.

i found it to be a great resource, and if you truly have the motivation to lose weight by eating PROPERLY and drinking a shit load of water ...then read this book.

my parents spent a shit load of money going to see a nutritionist and its the SAME thing. AND - they both have lost 30lbs - eating properly.

Yes DOC A did die from a fall and complications from that fall.  Rumors of course had spread about his heart. One thing I will say,he was right in preaching less carbs more protein, the food Pyramid was known to be incorrect and changed only after his death...

His system really works,  but you must stick to it for life... Not really that hard.

Only if you a carb addict such as complex carbs, needed for body fuel but also limited because of high sugard content..

I do not like fruit much or junk food but have to watch pasta and bread. I can eat cheese as part of my induction program and lost big time , with Docs full approval. I never ate high fat, exercised  ate regular portions It worked for me.

Good luck in your decision.  Frosty

Well I do eat well, I dont eat junk food (ok twice a year with a severe hangover I succum), I drink  2L of water a day, train for kickboxing 4 times a week (1+hr workouts), walk and swim.  I do like my diet coke and my 3 coffees in the morning but that is my vice.

So as you can tell I have tried all sorts of diets- counting cals, vege, soup diet, starvation at one stage and so on

Therefore I wanted to try something else.  OK I know Atkins is a hot topic and everyone has a point of view when it comes to losing weight, but I just wanted opinions.
