koali777
I really enjoy coffee, but it seems that my meds make me unable to have it, at least in the morning. If I am already having psychotic symptoms, I assume it's bad to have Adderall, Wellbutrin, AND caffeine. Besides a headache and fast heartbeat, I feel like I'm floating, sort of out of body, like I'm in a different dimension. Is that psychosis or a physiological effect of caffeine (stupidity)? I have weird thought insertion, even voices, but I'm more wondering about the physical effects. Or is it just my perception being skewed?
Eden
Stimulants used to exacerbate my psychosis when actively psychotic or sometimes cause breakthrough psychosis when on the edge. I wouldn't suggest taking the adderall and welly together but if your pdoc says its okay then why not. If the combination of stimulants is causing weird reactions its probably best not to add coffee into the mix. I'm not sure its safe.
koali777
Well you may be right. My doc put me on both (just added the Wellbutrin) for a month to see what it did (anxiety or not). But she said that in general, they shouldn't be taken together, although some people do and are fine. Physically, the two together make me SO thirsty. But yes, I've certainly gotten crazier since adding the Wellbutrin, however, it helped me quit smoking and I'm not NEARLY as depressed as before. So I like Wellbutrin, maybe I can just stay on that, hopefully if I'm put on an antipsychotic, can stay on it then too. So I'm taking it that, although for people like us this reaction is "normal," it's abnormal for the general population and should be avoided. I'm just scared to crash if I quit Adderall and get really depressed. But I hate this psychotic feeling that happens often. BTW I was psychotic before Wellbutrin was added, just not as bad. mcjimjam
I have exactly the same feeling when I have too much caffeine. Especially if I haven't slept. I think it is derealization.
air
ah yeah, that can suck... happens sometimes, its like you can't feel anything and what your looking at is not real, and everything is just like there but its not.
dancesintherain
Too much caffeine can really throw me off...for me, it kicks up anxiety and what I have seen described on here as something like akathesia (i havent had that from a med, so not sure). So not psychosis...but i could see how it could have that also. I can usually manage one thing of coffee and itll be enough to get my brain a bit more focused, but anything past that isnt good. I also couldnt go to 300mg of wellbutrin.
