Z1ppy
Hello all, I found this site while researching issues for my wife. What I found is exactly what I/we need - a community of folks that doesn't look at us as pariahs, fakers or what have you. For my part, I survived a burst cerebral aneurysm (clipped) with little side effect, other than a 2-Tylenlol headache for about 17 years. About 3 years ago, the full pain of the aneurysm returned, out of the blue. Been down the route that so many of you have experienced - disbelief from Dr, off-the-cuff diagnosis of depression (which is quite correct) and finally a referral to a neurologist; 2 1/2 years of EVERYTHING, from Botox to steroid infusions, Topamax, Indocins, -triptans, you name it & still no relief. Then lost insurance, job, & treatment stopped, not that it helped in the first place. For me, I'm very interested in coping strategies, etc & will probably habituate the headache board, unless trying to help my wife. As her outlook improves, I'll have her check out this place & I'm quite sure she'll have the same "Eureka" moment that I had. She is fighting to accept her issues as an illness, rather than a personal defect that she can "snap out of." As I said, I'm here to (try) help my beloved wife, but will divulge no info about her in accordance with the rules. That's about it for now, I'm just SO happy to have found this community where we can find some understanding, acceptance, and help. Thanks all, tom

olga
Welcome, Tom. We are a community of Mentally Interesting people. Doesn't that sound better than Mentally Ill? Well, it was a light bulb moment for me when I realized that I was seriously depressed and I hope your wife has a similar revelation. I'm glad you understand our rules and the policy about being a first-person site. It helps everyone if you read the rules in advance of posting so you get a feeling for our community, so you're a step up already. Let us know if we can help you in any way. olga
