milly
I don't know what to do. I have been on this med for two years with just the restlessness as the problem. Today I went to my GP complaining of weight gain which started when I went on an SSRI. I came off the thing two months ago and I'm still gaining weight. What is it more likely to be? My gran has diabetes but hers is age related. My aunt has a thyroid problem. My mum went and had a blood test and was told she had thyroid but when they did it again it was fine. Guest Vapourware
None of us are medical doctors and therefore can't tell you what is causing your weight gain. In fact, it would be negligent for anyone to give you any answers based on a short internet post. I encourage you to continue working with your GP to find the cause of your weight gain. It could be a myriad number of factors.
jt07
I have gained a lot of weight on Abilify, but as has been mentioned, no one here can give you medical advice as to the cause of your weight gain. The two conditions you mentioned require blood tests so you must work with your doctor.
lavender fairy
Your doctor can do bloodwork that would help determine if thyroid disease or diabetes is the cause of your weight gain. It's also possible that just being on Abilify or a change in your diet has caused weight gain.
