nightmares every night

Recommended Posts

i keep having dreams where i re-experience an onset of psychosis. some part of me tells me that i'm slipping away in the dream setting (like messages) and then it's just feelings of terror after that, til i wake up shouting, sometimes feeling as though i'm still experiencing it after waking. my question is what might this be related to (aside from past real-life psychosis induced by high dose Concerta, but that was a couple years ago) and what may be remedies for it, med-wise or therapeutic? thanks

I was (and still am) on Wellbutrin. At the time I started Lamictal, I was on 450 mg. Once I started the Lamictal, I began having terrifying nightmares, which I haven't had since I was a toddler. The pdoc dialed the Wellbutrin back to 300 mg, and I've been fine since. Have you recently added in any new meds that might be mixing with the Wellbutrin, or some of your other meds? It's definitely worth a call to your pdoc. Hopefully they can adjust your cocktail to let you get some sleep.

Maybe adding in a sleeping med will help, too. I am also now taking Ambien, but added it some months after the nightmares were sorted out. I was having trouble sleeping due to menopause, and not getting good sleep is a big trigger for me.

have you been taking the same dose of prozac for awhile now? i ask because prozac in particular (as well as effexor) gave me crazy nightmares that affected my daytime functioning.

i was taking 40 mg for several months, just a week ago started 20 mg. and then a week after upped wellbutrin from 75 to 150 (75 mg bid). going well so far as far as depression management goes.

I have had some success with EFT (emotional freedom technique) relieving me of nightmares. I still dream vividly and have them now and again but nowhere like what I did.
