Beetzart
I have been taking this at doses of 25 mg -50 mg most mights for the last two weeks, mainly because it helps me get to sleep. Saying that it has given me the most lucid/vivid dreams for a long time and I constantly wake up after four hours, then feel crappy the next day. I take it that I can't be getting any deep sleep? How have others found this med?
kittyloaf
I didn't have much luck with it. Even when it sometimes worked, I wasn't able to sleep long enough for a decent night's sleep.
jt07
I liked it. I took 50 mg every night for sleep. For me the sleepiness side effect wore off after about a month and it became an AD as good as any tricyclic ever was for me.
koali777
I was very irresponsible 3 years ago...I took 7 a night (that's 175 mg). I built up a wretched tolerance for it so doctors were shocked when I told them how much I took. It was impossible to wake me up before 8 hours had passed. When I quit, I don't know if it's related, but I DID get hives every day for months. It does work well as a sleep aid and an anti anxiety...my Vistaril is about to run out and I switched pdocs, so I'll probably go back to it, but no more than 3 pills! water
I used advil pm (ibuprofen and diphenhydramine) as a sleep aide for years. It worked but I always always felt groggy and awful the next day. Eventually I switched to ambien.
vanderk
I liked it. I took 50 mg every night for sleep. For me the sleepiness side effect wore off after about a month and it became an AD as good as any tricyclic ever was for me. The AD effect is not unexpected. Prozac was derived from good ol' Benedryl.
dancesintherain
this is a.k.a. benadryl, right? (if you know) I used it for quite a while for help with falling asleep, but I wasn't having issues with staying asleep. Once I started having them, it wasn't effective for me. But it seems like it does well for some.
apetasticaL
i take it sometimes to calm me down when i don't have any benzodiazepines. it doesn't put me to sleep, but calms me down, similar to vistaril or low-low dose Seroquel.
confused
It worked okay for me, but I was groggy the next day. I think the half-life is about 6 hours. with ambien I didn't get the grogginess and seroquel helped me sleep better.
melissaw72
i take it sometimes to calm me down when i don't have any benzodiazepines. it doesn't put me to sleep, but calms me down I dont take more than 2 pills at a time, and now when I take them all they do is calm me slightly. They used to knock me out for at least a couple hours, especially when I combined them with other meds, ie benzos. I think my body has built up a tolerance to it, but I dont want to go over 2 pills a day of it.
