dedoubt
As I have very little brain left, my memory is shit. Without the calendar on my iPhone, I would never remember any appointment. It's a great little portable brain. This morning I nearly dropped my phone down the stairs, and in a moment of horror, realized that if it dies, I will be lost, cast adrift on a sea of memorylessness....... SO, I tried to sync my phone with my computer (Mac PowerBook G4, OS 10.5.8-- the iPhone is a 3GS with OS 4.3.5). It didn't work. Every solution I found online leaves me with the same problem-- the only way to force the sync is to have the computer overwrite the phone data. The only data I have (and need) is on the phone. BLERGH. Any ideas?
dedoubt
Is there anybody out there? Just nod if you can hear me... Yes. In my desperation, I am quoting Pink Floyd. Just bumping this in case one of you knows what to do. I just got off the phone with Apple support, and they would be happy to help me with my problem. For 30 fucking bucks. I don't live such a lavish lifestyle that affords me such luxuries as paying for support from the company I bought my equipment from. (Isn't that something they are just supposed to do...????) gizmo
I don't have iCal or a mac, but have you tried going into iTunes, connecting (but not syncing) your iphone. Then click on your iphone on the left side of the screen. When the different catagories for your iphone come up, click on the info tab, then scroll down to the advanced section. Then make sure the option for overwriting data to your iphone check boxes are all unchecked. ETA: This is the search I used, maybe you can find another answer: https://www.google.com/search?q=iphone+synch+ical+overwrite+phone+data&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=rLJ&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&sa=X&ei=CF9iT4r8LsKKsgKMmKWkDA&ved=0CB4QvwUoAQ&q=iphone+sync+ical+overwrite+phone+data&spell=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=6d6c6273aaea308e&biw=1440&bih=
dedoubt
Thank you so much, gizmo. It's funny-- the link you followed was the very one I used to get through this problem, to no avail. (I've tried other things, too.) It's kind of mind boggling, that such a simple thing has consumed the better part of a week for me.
