Løcke X
i'm finding the "alternative" attitude and philosophies of this forum very refreshing and intriguing it's nice to have a place where i don't feel like the odd one out, and i can relax somewhat and not worry about capitalizing letters against my will you'll have to excuse me, i'm fairly new to the realm of psychology and mental illness in general. i haven't seen any professionals or received any official diagnoses. i'm not going to be familiar with most of the terms used, either. i'm just looking for a starting place; a place to sort things out, figure out what's wrong with my head, and talk to people in an environment that doesn't stress me out for once i'd list all the things that were "wrong" with me but i'd like to keep this particularly brief. i've been doing a bit of research and taking some informal online tests(yuck those nasty little things so unreliable right??) and i think i've narrowed it down to something along the lines of being an easily distracted compulsively lying quirky whimsical sociopath with a personality disorder or something similar to schizophrenia and a weird sense of humour but i don't even know so hey, nice to meet me am i right you guys, i'll be lurking around here and re-reading the rules and guidelines for a little while before i start contributing to any discussions. bpladybug
Welcome, LockeX I just cringed when you referred to yourself as 'fresh meat'. We are really not sharks searching for chum. Come on in, the water is warm. And I doubt that you are a whimsical sociopath either, even if you are just being sarcastic A good place to start looking at your issues might be therapy. Løcke X
thanks for the welcome, everyone. Welcome, LockeX I just cringed when you referred to yourself as 'fresh meat'. And I doubt that you are a whimsical sociopath either, even if you are just being sarcastic A good place to start looking at your issues might be therapy. haha, i'm sorry, i was only being playful. thank you for the kind words and the welcome, though. i've been thinking about therapy, but i'm quite literally not in complete control of my life at the moment and i'm afraid the people who are won't exactly be... understanding. Welcome! Not sure what you mean by a "schizophrenia-related personality disorder"... Do you mean schizoid PD? i don't know as much about mental illnesses as i would like to, admittedly... that's partially why i'm here! i mean some kind of personality disorder that shares symptoms with schizophrenia(like delusions, hallucinations, paranoia. those are schizophrenia-related, right?) What you're describing isn't a personality disorder, but if you are hallucinating and struggling with delusion you should see a psychiatrist right away. Welcome to crazyboards! Welcome to crazyboards! oh i know, there are other things that have led me to believe i may have a personality disorder. of course i don't trust self-diagnosis though, i'm just trying to get at least a vague idea of what might be wrong. thanks for the welcome! enlightened_plutonian
Welcome to CB. It seems that you have a lot of confusion going on, and I think the best thing you can do is see a pdoc and get not only answers but also treatment. I was also a little confused as well what you meant by 'schizophrenia related personality disorder'. But it is also possible to have more than one diagnosis. Really if you want to know what is going on, and also get it treated which would be a good idea, then you need to see a pdoc. We all try our best here to answer people's questions, but most of us are not medical professionals. I hope you do decide to get some help.
