SpartanForce
So, I was to get off Abilify but them I had a major depressive episode with lamictal and sertraline, and them I'm back to ol' Abilify 15mg. So, I take this pill in the morning and I become very active and non-depressive. But also anxious and restless. Them my doctor told me to take in bed time Akineton - I think is for the tremors and akathesia. Does anyone take this med with Abilify too? rowan77
My pdoc didn't give me any meds to counteract the side effects of Abilify. He just took me off it. But then I wasn't getting any benefit out of it anyway and the akathisia was intolerable. However I used to work in a behavioural unit for adults with severe challenging behaviour and intellectual disabilities and I remember Akinetin being prescribed along with AAPs a lot. SpartanForce
Man the akineton was getting me depressed. I just throw away all of this med. I'm still sticking with Abilify, and since is been more that 2 weeks, the akathisia must have passed... I guess.
lavender fairy
I found that the akathesia passed when I had been on abilify for a few weeks as well. I hope it continues to help you.
cfranco92
I tried abilify for a month and the akathisia didn't disappear. I was also given congentin to counteract all that restlessness. But it didn't help in the least bit.
SpartanForce
So I got propranolol 40mg. It works wonders to akathisia, but only for 4 hours. Do I have to take three to four times a day?

Your doctor should have told you how often to take it when the medication was prescribed to you. If you've forgotten, you can ask your doctor or pharmacist. ETA: Oh, and of course, the information should be on your prescription bottle.
netsavy006
You will have to ask your doctor how you are suppose to take it.
SpartanForce
He forgot to tell me, but anyway, he told me to stop since I told him that my blood pressure was very very low, and told me to go to his office today. He gave me them Fenergan, and that's what I'm taking now, Abilify in the morning and Fenergan at night.

It caused my pulse to drop to the 50s, felt like I was about to die. Let us know how Fenergan works out. At the psych hospital I think they also gave me Vistaril which is similar, and knocked me out pretty bad, but worked.
notfred
I have not gotten this side effect, my doc gave me propranolol if I did. I already take propranolol for tremor. Yes, propranolol needs to be taken 3-4 time a day. There are extended release formulations that are once a day, I take one.
SpartanForce
So the fenergan was not doing nothing and my pdoc got me back on akineton. Ok this one works for akathisia, but I'm suicidal at the moment. I don't really know what to do, but why the heck does a anti-parkinson med get me suicidal? melissaw72
Idk why an anti-parkinson's med would make you feel the way you do. If you cant work through your thoughts/feelings, I would call 911.
