item0
The ingore function is vital in my opinion because if a chatter is upset by a user habitually doing something they find offensive, disgusting or annoying they can not do anything about it and it will likely surface in other ways (such as becoming testy with other chatters), or directly as an argument with the said offensive/disgusting/annoying party that could easily be avoided. All of this could very well cause symptoms, worsening health. So, i would just like to recommend THIS. Thank you for reading this.
Guest
Am I that bad?
Velvet Elvis
I didn't look closely but the reason we use the chat we do is that it integrates into IPB and shares the user database. With most other things we'd have no way to tell for sure that people in chat are who they say they are on the boards.
Velvet Elvis
I actually tried that as a chat solution for mods to use to talk among themselves. The flash sockets stuff used for authentication is a nightmare to configure and requires opening ports on the firewall, IIRC.

item0
no, none of the regulars bothered me. I actually tried that as a chat solution for mods to use to talk among themselves. The flash sockets stuff used for authentication is a nightmare to configure and requires opening ports on the firewall, IIRC. Ok. Do you think it would be possible to request the feature from ipboards/ipchat be included with their next update?
Guest Recluse
Does the ignore feature migrate from IPB to the chat room? I seem to remember settings in the ignore menu specifically for chat, but I don't remember if they work.
Velvet Elvis
OK, do you not see the option or does it just not work for you? Under "my settings" and "ignore preferences" I see the option to add someone to your ignore list with checkbox for ignoring them in chat.
Velvet Elvis
You're not allowed to ignore mods and admins, in case that's the problem.
item0
Yeah it's still not working for me.
Velvet Elvis
Yeah, I did some testing with dummy users. There's a new version of IPB out that might fix some of the problems but I never upgrade until at least a few bugfix releases are out the door so it will be at least a month until we can find out. As long as the feature is there and is supposed to work, I'll try and find out what the problem is. It might take a while though.
