gizmo
It is titled "Xanax: A Love Story." it is basically a story about regular people and their use of benzos. I'm not really sure how I feel about the article, because it talks so much about the casual use of the meds. I did find the "comical chart" on the final page a bit offending, as though you could just pick one and then have your GP prescribe it. http://nymag.com/news/features/xanax-2012-3/
crtclms
Sloppy research, sloppy writing, sloppy thinking. The "chart" is actually kind of shocking: Is she suggesting what medications her readers should ask for and take? And, she has anthropomorphized Anxiety in a bizarre way, I can't quite put my finger on it.. And her political analysis, gah. Plus her analogies show she doesn't really understand what she is talking about. When a writer relies this heavily on the anecdotes of friends to pad a so-called scientific piece, it is a bad sign. "Trend" journalism is notoriously unreliable, and at times practically harmful.
