Breebree93
Okay...as I've said about five times before, the respridal is making me lactate, and since then my boobs have gotten SO! HUGE! I don't mind! I always wanted them bigger, but I don't want them to be saggy looking...I love the how the meds help my mood, and the fact that I am lactating doesn't bother me, but...what happens if they keep getting bigger? I want to stay on the meds, but now that my boobs are too big to fit into my bras I'm getting to feel awkard. Any suggestions? I am talking to a doctor on the 3rd, but sheesh! What do I do until then? (Also, they aren't leaky, so there is no problem with that...)
kittyloaf
I've gained a lot of weight on psych meds, and a lot of it in my boobs, but to me it was worth it to be alive. So you and your doctor should decide if it's worth the side effects to stay on risperdal.
apetasticaL
have you had any good results on other antipsychotics? i think risperdal is the worst for making a person lactate.
CookieN
Have you gotten your Prolactin levels checked????? I am taking an antipsychotic Zyprexa, and found that my prolactin levels are too high. My endo told me that the risk of having high prolactin levels for a long time is that one loses calcium which could lead to osteoporosis.
Guest
A side effect of risperdal is larger breasts (not just weight gain, it's a hormonal thing) along with absent periods and lactation. It's usually because the medication has raised your prolactin levels, which is not a good thing. You need to speak to your pdoc about getting your levels checked and possibly switching. Having said that, your breasts are probably not going to keep getting constantly bigger, I found mine settled as my prolactin level stabilised. rowan77
I had to go off Risperdal because I totally stopped menstruating and I was lactating a lot. It was so embarassing! My pdoc was more concerned with the raised prolactin levels and the health problems associated with prolonged raised prolactin levels
Breebree93
My endo told me that the risk of having high prolactin levels for a long time is that one loses calcium which could lead to osteoporosis. A side effect of risperdal is larger breasts (not just weight gain, it's a hormonal thing) along with absent periods and lactation Both of these things help a lot! I was wondering why it was a bad idea to stay on it (and both of these things make perfect sense). I was going to ask about the period thing as well. I know I'm not pregnant (doctor told me when I started to freak out). Well...this kind of sucks. It looks like I'm going to be taken off of this. I just pray they find something that works just as well for the mood. I've never taken antipsychotics, I'll have to ask. I don't want my bones freaking out on me and I don't want to not have periods. Thank you all! These were answers I was looking for!!! These were answers I was looking for!!! "These are not the pills I am looking for." "These are not the pills you are looking for." I had to. CookieN
Now that we are talking about prolactin levels. I want to ask something. Have you found prolactin levels associated with crying spells or feeling like crying most of the time????.......I am asking this, because I am already medicated (I take an antidepressant, and antipsychotic) but still, I feel like crying all day. I want to know (among the ones that have high prolactin levels) if you feel like crying or are more tearful???
crtclms
If you feel like crying constantly, call your pdoc. Whether or not it is because of prolactin levels, you should not be crying constantly without telling your pdoc that something is wrong.

Breebree93
I don't always feel like crying, but I overthink and get anxious way too often.
gizmo
I rarely feel like crying, even if I'm depressed. I've just never been a person who can cry. I'm more along the lines of "anger turned inwards."
crtclms
Sorry, I don't know why it took me so long to notice this is not an AC.
koa
Risperdol made my breasts bigger, too. However, I'm a man so I'm not as happy about that! At least I haven't started lactating!
