MedicationLover Posted April 1, 2012 Share Posted April 1, 2012 I am currently on tegretol and it's working fine for the purpose of stabilizing my mood. I am sharp (thinking) but having some sexual problems basically ED. Also I started working out and though I am seeing gains I'd rather be on a medication that is known to increase testosterone than one that increases a hormone that blocks free testosterone. I have used depakote before and my complaints were weight gain and fuzzy headedness (not as sharp). But I don't remember my dose. Now that I am eating healthier and working out I am not as worried about the weight gain and maybe I'd get used to the fuzzyness or it would go away in time. Maybe I'd be on a lower dose. Anyway what should I consider? I should add that I am not really having any problems working out, in fact I'm seeing gains faster than ever before, but I hate the idea of being on a med that lowers my testosterone when I could be on one that raises it or at least may raise it. MedicationLover Posted April 1, 2012 Author Share Posted April 1, 2012 I have tried depakote-worked, lamictol-worked until i stopped taking it as perscribed, tegretol-working, seroquil-not sure if it worked or contributed to auditory halucinations and only time iv been catotonic ever, and I think there is one other med I have tried... treliptol is a mood stabilizer? Yeah I felt like depakote made me dumb... Tegretol made me tired and slow at first but that went away and when I only take 200mg in the morning vs 400 i am not as tired. Frome what I'm reading treliptol has a negative effect on testosterone and sex drive similar to tegretol. I also have read that lamictal though it can affect sex drive does not do so as drastically... I'm not sure how lamictal effects free testosterone. *well now what I read is that treliptol is better than tegretol in the free testosterone aspect.
