Zoloft Withdrawal

Recommended Posts

I think I am dealing with the symptoms of Zoloft Withdrawal. I feel nauseated, clammy, and just generally ill feeling beginning a day after stopping cold-turkey (I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE), and progressively getting worse for the next several days up until now. It has been about a week. I am utterly dizzy constantly and extremely fatigued. I feel like I have the flu but I know I don't... I have not spiked a fever at all.

I know you are dying to wonder why anyone would be stupid enough to stop cold turkey... well, I didn't do so by choice. I had run out of my meds with no way to refill them and still no way until tomorrow possibly.

I guess my question being... at this point, is it feasible to just stay off the Zoloft and deal with the symptoms until they clear... or possibly just go back on the Zoloft? I had been hoping to stop taking it anyhow and am wondering if this is a step in the right direction or not. I have heard tapering doesn't really help these symptoms anyway.

I also wanted to add that I have not even really noticed much of a difference mood-wise... aside from the first couple of days after stopping when I was having suicidal ideation and tearfulness. Though at this point, I am fine mood-wise for the most part...

look, its never a good idea to quit an ssri cold turkey, as you have pointed out.

Check out the following link and do some research.

I really think you need medical advice on this one - ie whether to resume the zoloft and taper off it, or just continue cold turkey. Another option is to take prozac to help you ween you off the zoloft. This will help with the discontinuation symptoms.

Good luck and keep us posted.
