When can I go back on my Adderal?

Recommended Posts

I know that the answer will probably be not yet, but I feel crappy on top of being manic. I notice a difference with out it or it may be the manic stuff workin on my brain too, but I cant focus my energy and thoughts very well for long. I feel scatterbrained and forgetful. Ok so yes I have been having a manic episode and cycling for over a week and a half or so, but will it really hurt me to go back on it? I am going to ask my pNP when she calls me about my Lithium tomorrow. But anyone have any experiences with being manicy and still taking Adderall? Or is it just that I have to muddle through till I kik this mania in the butt? I know for a fact I wont be able to work untill I can take it. My job requires a lot of focus, remembering what you are doing even after getting interrupted, and generally being responsible for the health of others, I'm a Pharmacy Tech, I dont want to give someone the wrong meds or mix up bottles or something. It can get really busy and hectic at work.

I thought the same thing, that I couldn't live without it, but it made me psychotic. Wellbutrin, at 450 mg, has been a miracle. Sure, it's not as crazy stimulating as Adderall, but it works in a subtle way. Perhaps for now, suggest that?

There are non-stimulant ADD meds that are much less likely to induce mania. A few to look into are Strattera, Intuniv, Wellbutrin and, if you're not in the US, Reboxitine. Desipramine and Nortryptiline are a couple old tri-cyclic ADs that can be helpful as well.

I think you need to wait until your mood is stable.

Yeah you are probably right, I'm not working this week and I see my pNP again Thursday. I forgot to ask her when she called this morning because she woke me up. So I will just wait and ask her then. I have tryed Strattera and it did nothing for me. The Adderall works amazing for me, but I willl talk to her.
