gonenative
I am currently on a lower dosage of Seroquel XR of 150mg, which is down from the 450mg I was on before. I have had 2 seperate manic-like days where I decided to take another 150mg to get through the day and I have found it helping. I did not find any info on Seroquel prn, or taking extra on days when I am starting to cycle. I do usual get a high amount of Seroquel when I've visited the ER from manic episodes. I am going to ask my pdoc if I can have the option of increasing my dosage when I am having an increase of symptoms flare up in addition to my prescribed dosage of the time. Anyone else use Seroquel this way?
Eden
I've heard of AAPs in general being used in this way, it sounds like a good idea.
bpladybug
yep I use Seroquel this way and it works fine I try to make sure that I do not have an early morning business appointment the next morning I can have a bit of a Seroquel hangover and slowness. I have discussed this with my physician. I even have an extra bottle of 200 mgs Seroquel for this purpose. Last appt my Pdoc told me I could take up to 800 mgs. I have nipped quite a few hypomanias in the bud with this technique.
gizmo
I take 100mg IR PRN for anxiety. So I don't think it's an unusual step.
dancesintherain
I did a similar thing with another aap, risperdal, for a while. (edit--named wrong aap. duh)
g8orgirl
I've been on Seroquel for a long time, my pdoc says it's fine to take an extra dose if I'm having problems. I think this is pretty common but I would double check with your pdoc to make sure it's okay.
Gearhead
I do the same PRN thing, though with the IR and not the XR, when I feel myself getting hypo. Works for irritability/anxiety too. My pdoc gave it her blessing.
