Have you taken anything for the nausea? If you haven't, then it's time to try. If you have and you still feel unwell, then Abilify might not be for you.

You can even try something like ginger tea for starters. Pepto Bismol might help too. Neither needs a prescription. If they don't help, then it's worth giving your doctor a call.

I've heard some people say that Abilify made them nauseous in the beginning but that it goes away once you get used to the med. Personally, it never made me nauseous. My advice is to try the over-the-counter remedies as Vapourware suggested until you can get a hold of your pdoc who could prescribe you something for the nausea or change you off or something. But as I said, the nausea should go away.

Abilify never gave me nausea, but it briefly gave me vertigo, which caused nausea and vomiting. I don't imagine you have vertigo or you would have mentioned that. All side effects that I got when first taking Abilify and when going up in dosage were short-lived, other than fatigue. Good luck dealing with the nausea...hopefully it's just about gone by now.

Thanks everyone, your comments have been very helpful. Yeah i started on 10mg and am still on 10mg of olanzapine too as I'm cross tapering. I still haven't gotten a hold of my pdoc but will try the over the counter remedy until i talk to pdoc. I'm not sure if i could put up with this vomiting for a week or 2, as have been vomiting since February because someone was controlling my body and thought it funny that she could do this but she has recently slowed down and was getting better, but now this! My throat is getting really raw.

Thanks again for your help.

  • 2 weeks later...

I am on 45 mg of Abilify/day (15 in AM, 30 in PM), and when I first started Abilify I started doing so much better, no side effects. I would definitely tell your DR because IMO these side effects aren't normal. (I am not a DR though)
