gizmo
The past three days, I've been feeling really anxious, agitated, and feeling like I can't relax. So I called my pdoc up, and he said it could be akathesia and to restart the 2mg of artane I stopped a year ago. I had akathesia with abilify and when I first started risperdal 2 mg. but I've been on 6mg risperdal for over a year with no problems. Do you think the addition of 400-500mg of seroquel a day could retrigger the akathesia? Are the two AAPs too much for me? I took the artane tonight and am hoping to calm the f down tomorrow. LexFlex
As a matter of opinion I think taking seroquel in addition to risperdal can increase the effects of akathisia. One AP alone may cause it but adding an additional AP doubles your chances to experience akathisia.
koali777
I agree, I think you have way more chances of getting extrapyramidal effects from 2 AAPs versus one. And yes, sounds like akathisia; I'm planning on asking my pdoc for Cogentin, myself.
g8orgirl
I take both Seroquel and Risperdal and I do get occasional akathesia, always at night when I lay down to go to bed. Cogentin would definitely help and my pdoc told me to take my Ativan if it gets really bothersome.
